In some ways Thad Luckinbill seems like the archetypal blonde-haired, blue-eyed hunk that could be the stereotypical hero in a movie or the kind of All-American jock character that’s dominant in a very action-packed movie. But in truth he’s actually a rather humble guy that is more of a supporting character, though he does like to stay active and does in fact play on a basketball team that’s non-pro and is mostly for the enjoyment of it. That being said he’s still a strong enough character that his career has so far been successful and more to the point has lasted longer than a few years. To say that he’s put in his time is pretty accurate and to also say that he could easily move from being a supporting character to a lead might even be possible if he were to be given the chance. It could happen.
Here are a few things you might not have known about him.
10. He’s kind of a tall man.
Honestly, if you stand 6’1″ as Thad does and are considered to be tall it must be because the average male height of 5’9″ seems like it’s rather small in comparison. When you look at it the difference is only a matter of a few inches, but those few inches are very telling when you stand people side by side. Still, that average, which is for the US, seems kind of off.
9. He was in both Sicario movies.
Being in a movie with characters like Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin seems like it would take some real gumption and nerve not to be intimidated since both men are known to be kind of gruff and unpredictable. But having to act around them almost seems as though it might be kind of difficult since they’re both veterans of the screen and know what they’re doing.
8. He plays for a celebrity basketball team.
He played for a team called the Hollywood Knights and he’s not the only one since a number of other known celebrities have played for the team either for charity or because they needed something to do. It’s hard to know really.
7. He sang in a church choir when he was younger.
In fact it sounds as though his church has immortalized him in a way as they still remember him and will talk to anyone that wants to hear about Thad and what he did while he was a part of the choir.
6. He’s a twin.
His brother was born 12 minutes after him. The two of them actually starred together for a brief moment in Law & Order: Criminal Intent on one episode. Unlike his brother though Trent Luckinbill is a lawyer that lives in LA.
5. His career started in 1999.
He’s been around now for a while and has paid his dues and done his time so it’s safe to say that it should be time for Thad to have a few moments here and there that can be all his and not associated with anyone else.
4. He was in The Young and The Restless.
For anyone that’s ever had to sit through a soap opera because they’re parent, sibling, or friend wanted to they might have seen Thad once or twice on the Young and the Restless when he was still around. A few actors have actually gone this route it would seem, though soap operas are, like many things, a niche that attracts only those that have specific interests.
3. He was in 12 Strong.
Normally you might say that actors dressing up on set to pose as soldiers is something that might not be as inspiring. But this film at least depicts in a big way what it was like for a group of men that were bound and determined to let the Taliban know that America was not to be messed with.
2. He’s guest-starred on a lot of shows.
Thad has kind of made his way around Hollywood by guest-starring in several shows here and there and making sure that people have seen him. His career of course depends on this but it’s also a good way to just keep gaining experience and to insure that gains even more consideration for future roles.
1. He enjoys staying active.
Thad has a lot of different hobbies that allow him to remain active and keep himself in good shape, basketball being just one of them. Being that he tends to show up in films and shows that depend on him being fit and capable of taking on certain roles it does seem in his best interest to stay as active as possible and maintain a certain level of fitness.
So yeah, he looks like the average guy that might have melted women’s hearts in the 90s, but in truth Thad is the kind of guy that’s there to help out in any way he can and these days his looks are still a big part of his draw as an actor, but the talent he has is also extremely important.
