The Late Show was back with another new episode last night and Stephen Colbert wasted no time in congratulating South Carolina’s women’s basketball team for their NCAA performance. He also did a nice job of making fun of the team name “Gamecocks” by mentioning he’s glad their team name isn’t “Lady Cocks” because a search on the internet for that term came up a little “weird” for him. Colbert also apologized for not knowing the outcome of the Gonzaga and UNC final since the show’s taping is earlier in the day. As you know by now, UNC won the game in what was a very boring event riddled by referee mistakes and way too much free throw shooting to determine the game’s fate.
Colbert then went right into what he does best: politics. The subject of the White House this week has been centered on the GOP’s Nuclear option and the increasing role of Jared Kushner. Don’t get me wrong, there are still about 1000 other things going on like Flynn’s immunity denial, the increasing speculation of Trump’s impeachment and Melania Trump’s new portrait. However, let’s take a look at Stephen tracking Trump’s progress in filling the Supreme Court vacancy, the only Trump-appointed position that hasn’t been given to Jared Kushner.
