Stephen Colbert Has Some Advice for Hillary Clinton on The Late Show

Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert never shies way from making fun of politicians from either party on The Late Show. However, during last night’s show, he took some time to offer advice to Hillary Clinton, who is essentially guaranteed to be the Democratic Party’s candidate for this fall’s election.

So what did Colbert have to say to Clinton? Well, his tips for her came during his new (but oh so wonderfully titled) segment “Just the Tip,” and they centered on how to court Republicans to vote for or even campaign for Hillary Clinton. Since so many members of the GOP are angry and upset that Donald Trump will be the party’s nominee this fall, barring anything crazy happening (well, crazier than people actually voting for Trump that is), Clinton believes that she might be able to sway some Republican voters to her side.

Colbert first told Clinton told remind Republicans that none of them have ever been angrier at her husband, former President Bill Clinton, than her. He also suggested that she shouldn’t yell because “they’ll say you sound shrill” but also that she shouldn’t  be too calm because “they’ll say you’re an Ice Queen.” However, Colbert saved one of his best (and funniest) pieces of advice for last.

“Say something that makes you relatable to Republicans,” Colbert said. “For instance, I don’t like Ted Cruz.”
