Hungarian Soccer Player Pulls What Might Be The Worst Flop In The History Of Sports

If soccer is trying to go about increasing its popularity in the United States then the video below is not going to help in the least bit.  While flopping exists in sports other than soccer, it’s one of the main reasons that the sport isn’t nearly as respected here in the U.S. as it is in other countries.   The only other sport that comes close in the flopping department is basketball and it’s really the NBA that’s guilty.   The past decade has seen a harsh uptick in players faking injury.

It’s gotten to the point that it looks like the WWE out there and that’s being generous.    An elbow won’t come within 3 feet of the guy and yet he sprawls out on the floor looking like he got decked so he can draw a foul.   But at least the NBA is now starting to enforce penalties to players who flop.  So far soccer has done nothing.

Anyway, when you talk flopping, soccer is the most guilty sport and there’s an abundance of examples.  However, this recent video of a player trying to coerce the referee into making a call on something that obviously didn’t happen is beyond the limits of pathetic. Hungarian soccer player Danko Lazovic’s flop is so bad you’ll now have the urge to find some European online and engage him in an argument about why it’s called soccer and how calling it ‘football‘ makes you sound like an idiot.
