Most people raised in single-parent households probably wish — or at least, wished — that their parents would eventually get back together. Although times have certainly changed, and there are a lot of people only living with one parent, it still doesn’t change the idea that most people have in their heads. Unfortunately for Jake Spencer, it looks like it might be his time to learn that despite what he’s hoping for, his parents probably won’t be getting back together. No matter how old you get, no one ever likes to be told that they can’t have something that they really want. But for someone Jake’s age, this lesson can be a pretty tough one to swallow.
If you remember, Jake has already been struggling with his father’s relationship with Sam. Despite the fact that Sam is the mother of Jake’s brother, he just doesn’t seem to care. His anger towards Sam has already sent him into a rage, and what it set to go down during the next few episodes will definitely have him flying off the handle. With more and more of Jason’s memories coming back each day, he has already started to realize that he once had feelings for Sam. Well now things are going to go a step further with Jason and Sam finally getting back together. This time; however, it looks like Jake is going to take things way too far and really hurt Sam. Although it’s not yet clear what he’s going to do, it does seem to be something that has Sam feeling very afraid. He may be just a kid, but Jake’s temperature has already proven to be out of control, and Sam is going to be put in a really difficult position. Hopefully Jake doesn’t go after Danny too. These two might be brothers, but Jake certainly doesn’t care – AT ALL. He sees both of them as nothing more than two people standing in the way of his parents getting back together, and he’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants.
Although it’s become pretty obvious that little Jake’s got some issues, his mother seems okay with ignoring them. Sure, she’s finally brought him to therapy, but when Franco tries to tell her that Jake’s situation may be more serious than anyone originally though, she’s going to act like it’s not a big deal. As usual, Liz probably won’t realize that something needs to be done until it’s too late. Plus, she hasn’t always set the most positive example for Jake when it comes to her relationship with Sam. Of course, nobody would expect for Sam and Liz to be besties, but they don’t always handle things in the most mature fashion. The sooner all of the adults in this situation realize that they’re all just one big family – the better. The more tense things get between Jason, Liz, and Sam, the more Jake is probably going to feel like exploding.
When Jason first realized that Jake had a violent temper, he felt bad and thought maybe he passed the behavior down to his son. But if Jake really hurts Sam and/or Danny, will Jason still feel bad for his son? Their relationship will likely be strained and damaged if Jake causes serious harm to Jason’s other family.
Meanwhile, word of Johnny and Lulu’s plot against Valerie is finally spreading across Port Charles. These two have some serious explaining to do, but at this point it’s doubtful that anyone really cares what they have to say. It appears that Lulu has finally gotten herself into something she can’t get out of, and nobody is going to feel sorry for her or Johnny. Hopefully their failed attempt at kidnapping Valerie will serve as an example to everyone else that these crazy revenge plots have got to stop.
With so much going on for so many people in Port Charles, it goes without saying that General Hospital is going to end the week with a bang.
Tune into General Hospital on ABC at 2PM EST.
