Soundarya Rajinikanth is someone who has taken up various roles in the Tamil film industry. Examples include those of graphic designer, producer, and director. However, there are a lot of people out there who will be much more familiar with her because of her familial connections. 1. Daughter of Rajinikanth
For starters, Soundarya Rajinikanth is the daughter of Rajinikanth, a very well-known Indian actor who has been active since the mid 1970s. Besides that, he is known for a couple of other things as well. One, he is a spiritualist. Two, he has been involved in politics for some time but will be becoming even more involved because he has formed his own party to compete in the 2021 elections for the Legislative Assembly for the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
2. Involved in Kollywood
For the most part, Soundarya Rajinikanth works in what is called Kollywood. In short, the Indian film industry is divided up into a number of film industries based on different languages spoken by different groups of people in India. Generally speaking, most non-Indians will be familiar with Bollywood, which isn’t the Indian film industry in general but rather the Hindi film industry in particular. Meanwhile, the Tamil film industry is called Kollywood because it is centered on the Kodambakkam neighborhood in Chennai in Tamil Nadu.
3. Visual Thinker
Soundarya Rajinikanth has stated that she is a visual thinker. Apparently, she doesn’t think in words but has instead always thought in images. Due to this, when she was still a child, her mother sometimes needed to make small doodles of various things in order to make it easier for her to soak up the relevant information.
4. Passed Up On Acting
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Soundarya Rajinikanth was offered the chance to act after she had graduated from her school of choice. However, there were a couple of reasons why she passed up on said offer. First, she prefers to give instructions than to take them. Second, she had an open discussion with her father, who spoke about both the upsides and the downsides of being actor that made her less inclined towards the idea of following him in his chosen footsteps
5. Very Attached to Her Mother
It is interesting to note that Soundarya Rajinikanth is more attached to her mother than to her father. In her words, her mother is a very positive woman who serves as the anchor for the entire family ranging from her superstar husband to her grandchildren. What is particularly impressive is that Soundarya Rajinikanth’s mother is responsible for running a school as well, with the result that she is responsible for about 4,000 children on top of her own family.
6. Is a Graphic Designer
Generally speaking, when it comes to her career, Soundarya Rajinikanth is best-known for being a graphic designer. As such, she has been involved in the making of various movies to various extents. However, she has since used this expertise and experience to jump into other roles as well, as shown by how she became a producer in 2010 and a director in 2014.
7. Her Directorial Debut Movie Got Dropped
Soundarya Rajinikanth’s directorial debut was supposed to have been a 3D animation movie called Sultan: The Warrior. However, while the movie received a fair amount of pre-production promotion that ranged from a teaser to an interactive website, it was never made for various reasons that are not wholly clear. Instead, Soundarya Rajinikanth’s directorial debut turned out to be Kochadaiiyaan, which performed well in Tamil Nadu but less so in other markets. As a result, the movie was a box office bomb, though it hasn’t stopped Soundarya Rajinikanth’s directorial ambitions.
8. Sees Herself As Being Persistent
When asked about similarities between her and her father, Soundarya Ranjinikanth has been known to respond that they share a certain persistence. This is interesting because even though her father is famous for being one of the most successful actors ever in the Tamil film industry, he is Marathi rather than Tamil. As a result, Ranjinikanth had to learn Tamil because he didn’t actually speak a single word of the language before he became involved in acting. Due to this, it will be interesting to see if the daughter can translate that persistence into the same kind of success as the father.
9. Big Fan of Animals
Outside of movies, Soundarya Ranjinikanth has said that she is very fond of animals. In fact, she is so opposed to the suffering of animals that she has been known to get into arguments with strangers who she sees mistreating animals. As such, her appointment as an Ambassador of the Animal Welfare Board of India was a very natural one.
10. Her Second Marriage Is an Arranged Marriage
It is interesting to note that Soundarya Ranjinikanth is on her second marriage, which was apparently an arranged marriage of sorts. In their case, this meant that a mutual acquaintance told her father about her future husband as well as his family, which was followed by her father passing said information on to her for her to decide to meet him or not. Initially, Soundarya Ranjinikanth was hesitant because she felt that she wasn’t ready for a new relationship, but in the end, she decided to give the whole thing a try. Suffice to say that their initial meeting went very well, which is why they went on to have more and more meetings. As it turned out, her eventual second husband didn’t just get along well with her but also her son as well as her friends and family members, which was one of the critical factors that paved the path for their marriage.
