Many fans (including myself) were impressed with the new trailer for Blade Runner 2049. One of the biggest things people were looking for is whether or not director Denis Villenueve would be able to successfully recreate Ridley Scott’s futuristic and apocalyptic world from the original film. The consensus has been a resounding “yes.” Whether or not that translates into an excellent film is another subject entirely. We still need a great script, story, acting, etc etc to determine how the film will stack up.
But if you want to get into comparisons early on IMDB has released a fantastic video that gives us a shot for shot comparison of the latest trailer for Blade Runner 2049 with cherry-picked footage from Blade Runner. It’s pretty cool to see this comparable footage side-by-side. Villeneuve (Arrival) and his cinematographer, Roger Deakins (Fargo, The Shawshank Redemption) did an incredible job reporoducing the look of the original.
