The last time that we saw Team Scorpion, they crash-landed on a desert island. In this week’s season three finale of Scorpion, things are going to get worse before it gets better.
Seeing the team lose their minds as each day passes shows that even geniuses have a breaking point. Sylvester has taken refuge in the abandoned bunker with a little chameleon for company. The human calculator also writes in a journal to document the ordeal. I knew writing is therapeutic! Well, until you run out of ink. The rest of the team, while desperately clinging onto civilization, their morale is starting to crumble. Tempers are starting to flare, and even Quintis and Waige are having trouble in paradise (albeit it was on purpose). Not good.
I applaud Walter for making that hot air balloon, but that didn’t pan out as it burst into flames. Toby then built a raft that later sank after being pushed out to sea. It seems that whatever escape plan the team comes up with, it all ends in failure. On the other hand, this is Scorpion! They always find a solution no matter how dire the circumstances.
It came as a surprise, however, when Sylvester revealed that he spied on the team as Walter and Toby executed their respective escape plans. Walter had help from Paige and Toby had help from Happy. Walter was none too happy when he found out that Happy aided Toby with the raft’s design. Though in her defense, she’s Mrs. Tobias Curtis now. Wives should help their husbands. Within reason, of course.
It’s also disappointing that both Quintis and Waige cannot catch a break. Toby and Happy got some making-out time in, but Agent Gallo and Ralph came by, and that was that. Paige asked Walter if they’re ever going to get time alone, to which the latter responded with the negative. Speaking of Paige, I am amazed that she would find low EQ Walter attractive. Then again, ladies love men who can take charge of a situation. Or so I’ve heard.
I’m proud that Ralph took matters into his hands when he took the components for the electromagnet and using it to create a large enough charge to disrupt the magnetic field. Though he should not have done that without adult supervision. He may be a genius who knows more than everyone else, but he’s still a young child. If Scotty hadn’t saved him before the generator explosion, Ralph could be seriously hurt or worse.
In the end, the team got the attention one of the research planes via an SOS symbol to get them off the island and back to Los Angeles. Though they only lit up the first “S,” it symbolizes that they are a team. A team should never be divided no matter what. Their strength comes from their unity. So to quote Sylvester’s words: “Let this be a lesson to you, dear readers. No man is an island, no genius either.” Oh, and when Happy’s Portuguese single played, I had a feeling that Toby would ask her if she still had the flamingo dress.
