It’s not every day a person leaves a dream job, but then it’s far too often that some folks get pushed out for someone that their bosses think is going to do a better job and is more desired at their position than they are. That might sound a bit disingenuous but to be quite honest Tamron Hall was quite entertaining on the Today Show and wasn’t overly fond of getting into arguments with anyone as Megyn Kelly seems to enjoy. There’s no bashing, no name-calling, just observations of what has gone on during Kelly’s time and the fact that Hall was a lot more personable when it came to people and tended to show a great deal of respect to those that she spoke with. There have been rumors that Hall put herself above her coworkers and didn’t want to accept whatever the network was going to give her, but it’s also been made clear that they weren’t going to give her anything upon deciding that she was out and Megyn Kelly was in.
There have been accusations of whitewashing.
Being as Tamron was the first black woman in her position on the Today show this was something special that many people thought was worth noting. She was made aware that her position wasn’t permanent but it was still a huge accomplishment and to have it taken away by someone that was apparently proven at her job but still not entirely worthwhile was a bit insulting. The fact that Kelly had developed such a name for herself and was believed to be the smart move was still kind of a dramatic and less than appealing move. Tamron decided not to fight it however and just left, making a lot of people think that she up and quit for no reason to start with. But instead of being cast aside she moved on with her life and her career.
Kelly’s ratings haven’t really made much of a difference on the show.
This is an argument that a few people might gladly get into when it comes to the efficacy of the show and the ratings but the thing to note is that Kelly’s ratings have been kind of erratic and hardly the kind that would be worth talking about if she wasn’t on the show. Right now it seems that the only draw is her name and even that is starting to fade out a bit if you ask certain people. Her feud with Trump was a highlight of her career so far and that’s been taking a nosedive since people really don’t care all that much. Tamron had the advantage of engaging the people and making them care about what she was discussing. People wanted to see her and listen to her and were just about devastated when they found out she was leaving. Megyn Kelly unfortunately is not the favorite of a lot of people and seemed to receive a collective groan when she arrived.
She did manage to land a spot on another talk show.
The show was backed by the Weinstein company and was created in 2017 but thankfully the scandal didn’t affect it. Her new job with Investigation Discovery is treating her well and has been going good for a short while now. She’s enjoying herself and has moved on from the Today show in a way that shows that she might remember it but isn’t going to let the experience get her down. After all it’s something of a learning experience, as in learning when to recognize that someone doesn’t value you enough and that it’s time to move on. It’s a harsh and very hard lesson to learn but it’s one that a lot of people have had to go through regrettably since upper management doesn’t always take into account the long run like they think they do.
Whether she would have been as happy at the Today Show now as she was before quitting is hard to say since a new year and a new opportunity can bring about a lot of change. But the one thing that is for certain is that Tamron made the right choice to leave when she did since the show wasn’t exactly giving her the kind of opportunity she needed and managed to bring in someone that a lot of people simply can’t stand and didn’t do anything for the ratings. So in all honesty leaving as she did was not a selfish move, it was about self-preservation and about keeping her dignity intact since there was no doubt about why Kelly was brought in, and it wasn’t just because she was that popular.
Hopefully Tamron will be as happy and successful where she’s currently at since she’s proven to be a great personality on TV and should have a prosperous future still ahead of her.
