A Preview of This Year’s “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve”

For 45 years “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” has helped America ring in the new year direct from New York’s City’s Times Square. There’s nothing more American than watching the “ball drop” in Times Square and bringing in the new year with loved ones and good music. “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” celebration remains the most watched and most beloved New Year’s celebration. With great performances and live coverage from coast to coast, “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” is the tradition that keeps rockin’ along. Here’s what to expect on December 31, 2017 as we gather to watch the ball drop with “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve”.

History

American’s have gathered in New York City’s Times Square since 1904 to bring in the new year every December 31. In 1907 the giant glittery ball made its debut. As Americans count down from 10 to usher in the new year, the gorgeous ball descends from a flagpole on the world’s most popular intersection for all of the world to see. Over the decades the ball has changed, but people have always gathered to Time’s Square to usher in the new year.

The celebration had to be televised to let everyone in on the special event. In 1972 NBC began televising the event including performances by great artists. The exciting event was brought into living room throughout America and around the world. Dick Clark was a dynamic disc jockey who hosted the event on live television for decades and continues to be a presence in the special even after his death in 2012. The special live presentation moved to ABC in 1974 and Dick Clark Productions has continued to make the end of the year and beginning of the new year event special. Since 2012, dynamic radio and television host, Ryan Seacrest, has continued Dick Clark’s tradition of bringing music, pop culture and live performances to the world through “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve”.

On the West Coast, with host we can expect to see several exciting collaborations. Khalid and Marshmello will perform. Alisa Cara and Zedd will perform together. Brittany Spears will be in Las Vegas! Spears has not made a live appearance on “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve since 2002, but this end of the year Spears will perform live at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas her hits: “Toxic” and “Work It Bitch”.

Yet the best may have already been presented on at Times Square/New York City: Mariah Carey has promised to make up for last year. Carey is scheduled to perform after last year’s debacle. All will remember Mariah’s controversial performance at the December 31, 2016 New Year’s Eve presentation that was filled with mishaps and technical glitches. Carey is coming back to perform on “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve”! Anyone, like me, who loves all things Mariah Carey, cannot wait to celebrate the new year with the amazing Mariah Carey and all of the hosts and guests of ABC’s “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve”!
