If you play Pokémon Go, you will know that a few Pokémon from the Hoenn region of the games have been added recently. These have been a bit hard to catch since they were released into the Pokémon Go world. However, a new event that the creators have announced should make these elusive Pokémon a bit easier to obtain. For any egg that is collected from now until the 1st of February, the player can expect a special third-generation Pokémon to hatch from the egg. These eggs must be hatched by walking a certain distance. For example, the fish-like Barboach will hatch after walking 2 kilometers. On the other hand, the psychic Pokémon Ralts will take 10 kilometers of walking to hatch.
The above Pokémon are only two of the recently-released Generation III Pokémon for Pokémon Go. Many other creatures will be obtainable in game, especially as more and more patches are released that include new Pokémon. Plus, the game encourages exercise due to the check-in hotspots and egg-hatching activities that are core aspects of gameplay. If you want to obtain some Generation III Pokémon, your best bet would be to hatch as many of the ones that you currently hold as you can. Then, you should obtain as many eggs as possible from now until February 1st. This will ensure that you have the maximum number of rare Pokémon that you could possibly obtain from this limited-time event.
Another big help in collecting Generation III Pokémon will be the Super Incubators that are available as an in-game microtransaction. These incubators reduce the distance needed to hatch an egg to a third of their original value. This is especial beneficial for some of the high-kilometer eggs, such as Trapinch, Slakoth, and Feebas (which are found in ten-kilometer eggs). This event comes at a great time for Pokémon Go fans, as 23 new Pokémon were introduced into the game in just the past week. This brings us to a grand total of 70 new Generation III Pokémon added by the developer, Niantic. They even added a new legendary Pokémon, Kyogre. This one can be encountered in the Raid Battles of Pokémon Go from now until Valentine’s Day.
Niantic has been increasing the focus of the gameplay of Pokémon Go on traditional gameplay mechanics. Thus, this egg-based event will not come as a surprise to anyone who has been following the mobile game phenomenon. Though many new features overtook the traditional catching and hatching mechanics of the game, this event is sure to bring some players back to their roots. Pokémon Go is played by thousands of people across the world. When new creatures were introduced, it was a smart move by Niantic to try to assuage the common complaint of getting the same old Pokémon out of eggs over and over. Their guarantee that all of the eggs will hatch into new Pokémon will keep their content fresh. It will also ensure that their players will keep trying to catch ‘em all.
