Alright fans. Orange is the New Black is “about to get real.” According to their new first look trailer that certainly seems to be the case. In this minute long tease, a riot breaks out and we see an incredibly tense moment unfold. The clip picks up right where season 4 left off. Daya is pointing a gun at corrections officer Thomas Humphrey while a group of prisoners urge her to pull the trigger.
Meanwhile, Piper Chapman and Alex Vause are discussing their decision to renounce their troublemaking ways when they end up stumbling upon the stand-off. “Is this a real riot?” Piper asks. “If this is a real riot, do you think this is a step forward or backward for equality?”
Alex is able to drag Piper away from the scene. The camera then cuts back to Daya telling everyone to be quiet. The clip fades to black but as it does we do here a shot fired. Of course we have no clue if Daya actually murdered Humphrey or not. I’d say there’s a 90% chance she didn’t but you just never know.
According to outlets, season 5 is set to take place over the course of 3 days at Litchfield chronicling the events after the (SPOILER ALERT) untimely death of Poussey.
The show returns to Netflix June 9th.
