Nerikomi Pottery Is Oddly Satisfying

Source: Youtube

If you’re bored with glazing, nerikomi might be your thing. This Japanese technique (which is also often called “neriage”) is used for creating mesmerizing patterns with colored clay. Artist Tomoro has devoted his career to this type of pottery and also regularly uploads satisfying-to-watch videos to his Instagram account straight from his workshop. Nerikomi is made from slabs of colored clays with stains or oxides, which are stacked, folded, pressed into logs, sliced, and finally arranged to form a vessel. It has its roots in Egypt and China which has been using this technique since the 7th century.
