If you’re like a bunch of people that were turned on to the Flip or Flop show that showed viewers just what it’s like to flip homes that are about falling down so as to gain a profit then you’ve likely seen just how tough it can be on relationships and what it really means when it comes to the mental and physical health of the individuals doing the work. With DeRon Jenkins and Paige Turner however those relationship issues are already over and done with so there’s no real issue on that front, meaning that they can be business partners and not worry about how the business is affecting their relationship. When you look at the couple that started this, Tarek and Christina, you get the feeling that the job can take a serious toll on a relationship. But given that they split for various reasons it’s also important to realize that this kind of job can also bring people closer together if given the chance.
Yes, you CAN work with an ex.
This is all a matter of how you see the relationship and whether or not you’ve moved on. Obviously DeRon and Paige have moved on with their personal lives but have realized that as business partners they’re still valuable to each other. Discounting one good thing about a person just because you can’t stand something else about them is a dangerous proposition since if people can work together in one capacity there’s no need to worry over other matters. These two have shown that they value one another for their ability to get the job done and make money so obviously they’ve proved that they can make it work. Those that might harp on the idea that it’s just for the show aren’t far off base since of course they’re in the same business for the profit and to get famous as a byproduct. The idea of creating a business that can inspire others and even draw more attention to their show is something that anyone in this position would want. But as far as being fake or scripted it’s reality TV, so once the cameras are off there’s really no telling what goes on or how they deal with one another. At that point though why would it matter?
On screen tensions are likely for show.
If there are any on screen tensions they could possibly be real and be a byproduct of the difficulties that come with the business, since there are plenty. But there are also tensions that are created as a part of the show in order to keep people from losing focus. More people tend to watch a show, reality or otherwise, when there’s a certain level of drama included, as has been shown more than once throughout the history of TV. With that in mind the ability to play upon the former relationship of this couple is something that a lot of producers would likely salivate over since it opens up a whole array of possibilities that might be used in order to get the ratings up and keep them there. The only problem with this is selling it to make people believe and possibly get them on board with the idea that DeRon and Paige are in fact conflicted with one another over anything but business. If you’ve watched the show then you already know that this isn’t the case. Business is business and personal is personal, and at this point their personal lives aren’t bound to interact with business if they can avoid it. The drama is usually created by the show and less by the people involved.
The only things that will change in shows like these are the locations and the individuals that are headlining the shows. Anything else is usually under the control of the producers and those that write the scripts, if there are any. DeRon and Paige are likely to remain business partners for a long time since it seems as though they get along just fine in a professional capacity. But the drama that could possibly build up and the issues that could come along are what a few people are going to be looking at no doubt since many viewers watch reality TV for this very reason, because they want to see something unfold that wasn’t originally planned and therefore is a little more exciting than the show intended. The only thing what a person needs to remember in that case however is that very little is unplanned when it comes to these shows and everything has been taken into careful consideration when it comes to showing it to the public.
They can work together, that’s great, but if anything every splits them apart when it comes to business it’s bound to have something to do with the show.
