Season 1 of Runaways has finished broadcasting. However, fans of the series should not feel sad, seeing as how it has been announced that it will be receiving a second season. This is perhaps unsurprising considering that Runaways has been met with a positive response from not just the critics but also a fair number of viewers out there.
What Do We Know About the Second Season of Marvel’s Runaways?
Unfortunately, since the confirmation of a second season of Runaways has just been announced, there is not much else that is known about it at this point in time. However, it seems probable that a fair amount of what was true for the first season of the series will continue to hold true for the second season of the series.
For example, it seems probable that Runaways will continue to remain faithful to its source material for the most part. However, it seems probable that the series will continue to be flexible in the sense that it will continue making changes that make sense in the context of the screen. One excellent example is how the series has had a positive response to the increased focus on the parents as opposed to the titular characters, so it would come as no surprise if the second season maintains this trend.
Another example would be the separation between Runaways and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Granted, the series is indeed a part of the shared setting, but so far, it has not felt the need to stress that connection by bringing in elements from other projects. Something that has not just helped to maintain the sense of tension in Runaways but has also helped to make the shared setting seem that much bigger, which is for the best.
As a result, while crossovers between Runaways and other projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are not impossible at some point in the future, it seems probable that such occurrences won’t be happening in Season 2. In part, this is because Runaways needs a lot of time to prepare a solid foundation before it can support such a project. However, it should also be noted that the people behind Runaways don’t have much interest in doing a crossover at this point in time because they are very sensibly much more focused on the stories of their characters as opposed to the stories of how those characters might interact with others in the shared setting.
Further Considerations
Regardless, not too much more information is known about Season 2 of Runaways at this point in time save that it will be 13 episodes in length. However, it seems probable that said situation won’t last long. After all, there is a fair number of viewers for the series, which in turn, means that there is a fair amount of interest in the series. As a result, once news comes out, it is certain that it will be snapped up by eager minds before spread throughout the Internet, having been fueled by that same sense of eagerness.
