Kristaps Porzingis is having a bumpy sophomore season to say the least. He’s been on and off with injuries and “The Unicorn” isn’t having the monster season some expected him to. But keep in mind this is still just a kid. He’s still 7’3 and is still capable of being one of the most dominant players in the league. Recently Porzingis stepped back into the Knicks lineup and showed Knicks fans exactly why he’s a rising star.
Dwight Howard who considers himself “All about the D” and is widely known as being one of the best defensive players in the league was no match for the younger Porzingis in a play that was one of the best highlights of Sportscenter, or any sports segment. The young Latvian almost broke his back for this jam, but it was at Dwight’s expense so Knicks fans can be happy. Plus Kristaps didn’t get hurt which is yet another reason to be happy.
While the Knicks and the collective basketball world wait to trade Carmelo Anthony (or just tease everyone for the rest of Melo’s career) Porzingis might not get to play first fiddle. Still though, these highlights will hopefully give Knicks fans a taste of the very near future. I will say this though. He’s extremely lucky he didn’t get paralyzed after his fall to the floor. That and Joakim Noah’s reaction is pretty funny.
