What We know About American Gods Season 2 So Far

‘American Gods’ is a fantasy drama TV series that premiered on the Starz network in April 2017. The series is based on Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name and was developed as a television series by Michael Green and Bryan Fuller. Gaiman worked alongside Green and Fuller as an executive producer for the series. Season one ended in June 2017 after a run of eight episodes, but it had already been announced the previous month that the series was being renewed for a second series. Although it is not scheduled to premiere until 2019, there are already snippets of information about the next season coming to light. Here is what we know so far about season two of ‘American Gods’.

Although Green and Fuller were the showrunners for season one, they will no longer fulfill this role in season two. Fuller made a rather mysterious exit from the show in the fall of 2017. Green and Fuller are being replaced by Jesse Alexander and this was announced in February 2018. He is best-known as the writer and co-executive producer of ‘Heroes’.

Many of the cast members from the first season of ‘American Gods’ are returning to resume their roles in the second season. These include Ricky Whittle, Orlando Jones, Ian McShane, and Yetide Badaki. These actors have given themselves the nickname of ‘The God Squad’.

Chris Byrne is set to direct the premiere of season two, which will run for eight episodes. He is best-known for his work on ‘Star Trek Discovery’ and Hannibal’. The novel’s writer, Neil Gaiman. Will work alongside Jesse Alexander in the capacity of an executive producer.

According to Gaiman, the first season revolved around getting to the House on the Rock, whereas season two will take viewers to the next stage in the story. He says it has been an amazing experience to develop the story further with talented actors and inspirational filmmakers.

Although many cast members have decided to return, that is not the case for all the characters. In season one, viewers saw Gillian Anderson playing the role of the goddess Media. Anderson has announced that she will not be returning to this role for the second season of ‘American Gods’.

There is also uncertainty over whether Kristin Chenoweth will return to play the role of the goddess Easter. She appeared as this character in the finale episode of season one. This actress has collaborated with Fuller on many occasions in the past.

Joining Gaiman and Alexander in executive producer roles are Craig Cegielski, Scott Hornbacher, Ian McShane, and Stefanie Burke. The latter is the representative from FremantleMedia North America who are producing the series. Other co-executive producers of the show include Chris Byrne, Rodney Barnes, and Heather Bellson. The Starz executives in charge are Kathleen Clifford, the Manager of Original Programming, and Marta Fernandez, SVP Original Programming.

Production of the second season has already begun, but fans of the series will have to wait until 2019 to enjoy the premiere of season two of ‘American Gods’.
