In yet another complete shoot-out of an All-Star game, the West defeated the East by a score of 192-182. Anthony Davis took home MVP honors and broke Wilt Chamberlain’s All-Star game scoring record by dropping 52 points on a record 39 shots taken. In what I felt was a pretty uneventful NBA-All Star weekend was capped off by a high scoring, reasonably entertaining game. Klay Thompson didn’t make the finals in the three point contest and Aaron Gordon put up a dud by not even advancing to the finals in the dunk contest.
However, the clear highlight and story of the weekend was Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. These guys avoided each other for virtually the whole weekend and then out of nowhere Durant gives Westbrook this lob for the alley oop jam. Now all of a sudden these two guys are best friends again? I mean who cares? You gotta be kidding me with this stuff.
