The Top Five Katie McGrath Movie or TV Roles of Her Career

Katie McGrath has been around when it comes to film and TV and you might have noticed her a time or two. Her characters in the movies tend to fade into the background just a little unless you really pay attention, but there are roles she’s had that are front and center and allow you to fully enjoy the fact that she can act and has taken on some roles that were well-received. She’s also taken on a role or two that have been less than pleasing since her character has kind of gotten the short end of the stick so to speak. But acting being what it is she’s taken on some roles that have shown her in the best light possible and allowed her to shine.

As far as films go she hasn’t really done a whole lot in her career, though on TV she can boast a solid resume with roles that have seen her playing everything from the role of Morganna in Merlin to Lena Luthor in Supergirl. That’s a decent range since despite being prevalent in fiction she still makes each part work and brings her A game to the table every time. With any actor it’s the level of dedication and commitment that a lot of people find easy to admire. The glitz, glam, and sensationalism and hype that come with some actors is kind of expected, but one has to have something to back that up in order to be worth anything.

Here are a few of Katie’s

5. Merlin – Morganna Pendragon

According to the legends Morganna was the enemy of King Arthur and his kingdom, though in the earliest stories she didn’t receive a lot of notice. However, as the tales continued to build she grew into a much more frightful presence. As the years have gone on she has even become something of a rather powerful enemy from one telling to the next, amassing power and an undying hatred for Arthur and Merlin that seems to have no limit. While her current incarnation is far removed from earlier writings the idea of Morganna is still something that is enough to give an actress like Katie something great to work with.

4. Jurassic World – Zara Young

When watching this movie you can’t help but feel bad for Zara since she wasn’t a bad person but was seen as more of an expendable character that was there for shock value when her death scene came along. She had to take on the task of watching two young boys that were related to her boss and thereby weren’t really in her job description, and then when the dinosaurs got loose she was taken away by one of the many flying species and then unceremoniously dumped into the giant aquatic habitat where she, and her attacker, were eventually gobbled up by the massive beast that called the habitat home.

3. The Throwaways – Gloria Miller

The movie is more or less about a hacker that has been cornered by the CIA and forced to choose between 30 years in prison or doing a job for them to wipe out his crime. Choosing the latter option he’s then granted the ability to choose three others that he can work with in order to get the job done. The only problem is that these three haven’t ever been taken seriously as agents and are expected to fail. When this is found out the team disbands, though they pull together eventually due to a lengthy and heartfelt apology and eventually get the job done. They even become agents after the successful completion of the job.

2. Leading Lady – Jodi Rutherford

This film is largely about a woman that is prepping for a role that she believes will help make her a star. What she comes to realize however throughout the filming process is that there is much more to acting and to the art of making a film than she originally thought. The revelations that come as she attempts to keep the project going are enough for her to realize that what she thought would be simple is anything but.

1. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword – Elsa

Some will sacrifice everything to gain the power they want. This take on the legend of King Arthur is quite different but it’s also kind of interesting despite the fact that the movie kind of flopped in the box office. Her part isn’t all that big in this film since she is the wife of Vortigen, the treacherous brother of King Uther. Before she can do much of anything her husband sacrifices her in order to appease the disgusting moat hags that grant him the power to overthrow Uther and claim his kingdom as his own. Only later on when Arthur is grown is he finally given the chance to avenge his family.

She’s a great actress and it’d be nice to see her career take an upswing.
