We’ve already seen one trailer for Kathryn Bigelow’s latest film Detroit and recently we’ve been treated to another one. This time there’s a bit more emphasis on John Boyega’s character. For those of you who might not have heard of the movie yet, John Boyega stars as Melvin Dismukes, a young police officer during the riots in Detroit during the summer of 1967. The film specifically focuses on the Algiers Motel Incident, in which three young black men were killed by police.
Will Poulter, Jacob Latimore, John Krasinski, Anthony Mackie, Jason Mitchell, Ben O’Toole, Jack Reynor, Joseph David-Jones, Algee Smith, Kaitlyn Dever, and Hannah Murray also star in the film which comes out on August 4th. If Kathryn Bigelow has taught us anything in the past it’s that her movies should never, ever be missed.
Detroit looks like it could very well be summer’s best movie, although I think Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk may have something to say about that. Check out the second trailer for Detroit below:
