I’m betting a lot of people would want to be Kate Mara’s friend if they found out about the clause in her contract that has to do with the Super Bowl. Well, maybe not this year unless they’re Steelers fans, since Pittsburgh is having a rather nice season and could easily see it’s way to the post season if everything keeps going well. But the poor Giants have already been eliminated from playoff contention and as a result you can bet that Mara, who has family members that are high up in either organization, will be rooting for Pittsburgh in the days to come. Better than that though, she has a clause in her contract that states that she can attend the Super Bowl no matter what, even if she’s working at that point. Now think how awesome that would be.
Her first cousin, once removed, is the current president and co-owner of the Steelers, while her uncle John Mara is the president, CEO, and co-owner of the New York Giants. What a family to belong to right? You’d have a free pass to pretty much whatever game you wanted to go to it sounds like, which as an NFL fan would be beyond the wildest dreams of pretty much anyone. To think that she actually missed the Steelers’ victory in Super Bowl XL due to work is kind of hard to imagine if her family has been intertwined with both teams for so long, but she’s been able to attend the Super Bowls that have come after as both teams have enjoyed their victories within the recent past.
Such a stipulation in a contract might actually force some directors and film makers to consider when they might need to film Mara’s parts if they come anywhere near the NFL regular season. After all you don’t want one of your stars being gone on a crucial filming day and be unable to do anything about it. This isn’t like a morals clause after all that could allow a studio to part ways with her. But it could also be a big deciding factor in whether or not she actually gets a job. Obviously Kate Mara is an actor that is in high demand depending on the picture, but those in charge still need to take into account just what it means when they can’t have her for one certain day. It seems like that might be an easy thing to plan around but things do happen on occasion.
As I said in the beginning though this would be someone to be friends with if you were a big Giants or Steelers fan since getting to go to a Super Bowl is extremely expensive when it comes to ticket prices, and then when it comes to travel expenses if it’s well outside your area. When your family has been connected to two NFL teams for so long however the idea of being a fan and missing out on anything seems kind of hard to fathom.
