Easily the biggest news story of the day yesterday was Donald Trump’s first solo press conference. What was supposed to be an introduction to the new labor secretary Alexander Acosta quickly turned sour as Donald Trump does what he does best: attack the media. Among his highlights were saying something that most considered racist to a black reporter insinuating that she was friends with the black caucus. The other was calling the leaks real news, but reporting of them fake news.
What people thought was a half decent start to the conference got completely out of hand and out of control once the President began taking questions. You had to figure that Late Night was going to eat this up and they sure did. Jimmy Fallon gets the award for doing it best as he brought back his Donald Trump character in full uniform and makeup.
You’ll recall that Jimmy Fallon was criticized for taking it too easy on Donald Trump during the election. It doesn’t seem as though Fallon is holding back now. Actually it seems that no one except for Trump’s loyal fan base (whatever that means) is holding back. When FOX news is calling you out for lying, there’s definitely a problem.
