Jim Carrey Crashes Jeff Daniel’s Conan Interview for Dumb and Dumber Reunion

When Jim Carrey crashed Jeff Daniel’s interview on Conan for a Dumb and Dumber reunion it was hilarious. Jim was in good form this night and Jeff was glad to see him as they had an onscreen chemistry from Dumb and Dumber that has kind of made the transition into the real world. That’s great to see really since you usually have no idea who really likes each other and who can’t stand each other behind the scenes. Whether or not it’s real once they behind the screen is hard to know but you can at least hope that it’s genuine. After all Dumb and Dumber, the first one, was pretty good, even if the sequel kind of fell flat.

Jim Carrey is like a human tornado though. He has that kind of boundless energy that can be used for something good or something just absolutely horrendous. He isn’t bound by much and doesn’t seem to ascribe to the laws of humanity or nature in some ways, as though he’s able to slip in and out of the species when he so desires. Jeff Daniels on the other hand is the every-man. He’s the guy that can do just about anything well but isn’t really the master of any of it. But that’s what makes him so special, he’s great at so much that he does that he doesn’t have to be the absolute master. He’s awesome just being himself and in many roles he plays in he’s very easy to relate to. Another way to say it is that Jim Carrey is the ultimate extrovert onscreen, he’ll do and say just about anything. Jeff Daniels on the other hand is able to adapt to just about any part he has to play, which would include anything that has to do with Jim Carrey. That’s part of why they make such a great team, they know each other’s strengths and weaknesses so well and can play on them with little if any difficulty.

Saying that they’re talented doesn’t quite cut it. They’re very talented, but they also possess something when together that’s very hard to describe and goes beyond chemistry. It’s almost the same as being best friends with a guy that under other circumstances you wouldn’t be able to stand at any other time simply because when you’re together you’re that compatible. Your relationship works with this person because when you’re with each other something changes in both of you that just allows it to happen. It’s hard to quantify or qualify as a concrete reason but it does happen. Opposites attract would be the best way to explain it, especially since Jeff and Jim are in many ways quite different. The two men are great onscreen together and seem to get along just fine off screen but when they’re acting together there’s a bond there that’s hard to miss.

Hopefully we won’t be seeing another Dumb and Dumber, as the second one was a bust even if they liked working on it.
