Jennifer Aniston Says Friends Cast is Working on a Mystery Project

It’s easy to get the feeling these days that actors love to tease the public and misinform them as to when things are going to happen, or mislead them entirely. We’ve already seen how Ewan McGregor had everyone fooled when it was stated that there wouldn’t be an Obi-Wan Kenobi project forthcoming, and people are still shaking their heads about that one. But as Ana Dumaraog from ScreenRant has stated it would seem that Jennifer Aniston is hinting pretty heavily at a mystery project that’s taking place with her and her Friends costars. As of now no one apart from Aniston and those working on it have any idea what it could be, but honestly and truly a lot of people are hoping for a revival or a movie, but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Honestly it shouldn’t be there either since during its ten-year run Friends gained a massive following and even after 15 years it’s still one of the many shows that people talk about in glowing terms. But bringing it back seems like a bad idea, even if that’s not the plan.

Why wouldn’t it? Well the honest to goodness truth is that the series could only hurt itself if it did decide to make a return to the small screen. And even more honesty, the idea of bringing the Thanksgiving episodes to the big screen seems like an awkward idea as well. It’s great for the fans of the show that want to see it as much as possible and would likely sign a petition to bring it back if that happened to be in the cards. But at this point Friends has moved on, the actors have moved on, and it seems best to just let the fond memories be what they are, a pleasant bit of nostalgia that was born back in the 90s. Since the end of the show the main cast members have gone their own ways and done their own thing, some of them grabbing at success on a semi-regular basis or taking up positions that are either beyond the camera or are on camera but aren’t quite as prevalent. In fact only Jennifer Aniston has been fairly consistent in her career since she seems to be the biggest success story of the bunch. The others have all done their fair share of acting since the show and have met with success as well, but Aniston has been the most popular overall. In fact it’s almost safe to say that she was the most popular while the show was going. Tony Maglio from The Wrap has more to say on the matter.

If the upcoming project isn’t a movie then it’s kind of a wonder as to what it will be and whether or not Friends fans are going to be satisfied with the attempt or if they’ll want more eventually, as is my guess. George Simpson from Express has more on this subject if you want to have a look. Given that each individual from the core group is going to be in on the project it kind of stands to reason that the project will be something that will almost assuredly have a few Friends undertones simply because it would seem that not expecting such a thing would be kind of hard to fathom. After being around each other for so long it’s kind of difficult to think that these individuals would do anything but joke and kid around with each other in the same manner that we grew used to back in the day. As things stand now the actors are a bit older and obviously matured by their time on the big and small screens, but it’s very easy to imagine them all reverting back to form eventually since this is what people came to expect after so long. It doesn’t matter if they’ve acted far differently in other movies and on other shows, it’s bound to happen that we’ll see something close to the same acting styles that people grew so used to. When you look at it to be honest they’ve all developed quite a bit throughout the years and have portrayed characters that are far different than their Friends personas.

Whatever the project could be it’s bound to take up the gossip and rumor mills for a short while here and there since it’s Friends after all and people want to know what’s going on with it. That being said though it won’t be the dominant story since after all there’s a lot going on in Hollywood on any average day and this is just one story that might be seen as interesting enough to read through. It will gain a bit of attention though, that goes without saying since there are simply too many fans out there that want to know just what’s going on with the Friends cast and what they might be appearing in. So this won’t be the only time you’ll hear about it.
