Jared Leto Allegedly Tried to Get The Joker Movie Stopped

Would someone get Jared Leto a tissue please and remind him that the Suicide Squad was about the actual squad and that the Joker he played was in fact just a glorified cameo as it was meant to be? Seriously, he’s a skilled actor and all and has a lot of talent, but his ego is simply astounding as by now he needs to realize that as much pull as he has in Hollywood he’s not going to be able to get a movie torpedoed just because it hurt his feelings that he wasn’t put into the lead role. Now this is something I actually loathe saying since I still don’t support the movie Joker, but just watching the trailers for the movie it would seem that Joaquin Phoenix has put in a much better performance than Leto could have been expected to do since his Joker was more like a wannabe gangster with a mean streak than a true representation of the classic character. Go on and try to rip me apart on that one, and before you do, watch Suicide Squad once again and remind yourself that you need to take off your blinders and focus on more than Leto. The movie is still going to be a walking dumpster fire but at the very least it will be important to note that Leto is something of a train wreck on his own. I honestly can’t agree with B. Alan Orange of MovieWeb when he says ‘famously played’ in regard to Leto’s character, at least not with a clear conscience, but we’ve all got our opinions and we’re entitled to them.

The mere fact that Leto attempted to get the movie shut down is a credit and a disservice to his ego since it seems to indicate that he doesn’t really care what others think, he’s going to try and get his way as much as he possibly can at the expense of anyone that happens to stand in his way. Honestly it would seem that he was thinking that he was due another shot at playing the clown prince of crime since he believes he did such a great job in the one movie that he was allowed to star in. The way he acts, you might think that he was under the impression that it was HIS movie and that the squad were just a bunch of costars that were serving as supporting characters. See what I mean about ego? Thankfully Robert Wabash of Ranker is another individual that’s managed to see past Leto’s continual line of garbage and has even gone so far as to recite reasons why he’s one of the most disliked stars in Hollywood at the moment. The guy simply doesn’t know how to turn his ego off, and given the remarks he’s made about playing the Joker it’s even worse to think that he bothered to try getting Phoenix’s movie shut down. How amusing must that have been? In my mind it almost looks like an irate chihuahua trying to bark loud enough to get anyone to listen, right before the annoying yapper gets shut out of the room.

You can’t exactly say ‘who are you?’ to Jared Leto since he is an award-winning actor and has been a highly popular character for quite some time. But his diva-like behavior is becoming kind of a problem, for him more than anyone else, that could eventually force fans to kind of leave him behind if he’s intent on being seen as this much of a jerk. Someone needs to sit him down in front of a taping of the Suicide Squad and remind him that he wasn’t as good as he seems to think, and more to the point that his ego is definitely blinding him to what others are seeing, despite the fact that he doesn’t seem to care about this. For someone that says that he felt tricked into playing the Joker (after seeing bad reviews), and that it was a torturous experience (likely thanks to his method acting) the guy is sure crying a lot of over a role that he seemed desperate to get away from. Trying to get a movie shut down is a strange way to admit that he really liked the part and didn’t want anyone else to take it from him. Crystal Bell of MTV has a little more to offer on this idea.

Can we call Leto a crybaby? Yes, yes we can. Can we call him untalented? No, not really. He’s done his bit and he’s earned his fame and yet somehow, somewhere along the way he kind of forgot that one’s fame is only valid so long as they remember that it comes from the fans who want to see them, and who want to idolize them for being decent and entertaining people. He’s got half the formula down, but that decent part is something he might have to work on for the future.
