When you first saw Star Wars, and I’m talking 1977 Star Wars, there’s a good chance you never thought to yourself, “why do Stormtroopers” always miss when they fire?” It may have been in the back of your mind and a very simple answer would have been “it’s a movie, if they didn’t miss, all the main characters would be dead.” Sure, that’s obvious and totally acceptable. But after seven episodes and an eighth and ninth slated to come out, you might think to yourself, “OK this is absurd, they can’t be THAT bad at aiming.”
I mean sure maybe the sight of Luke and Han just screwed up their thinking but after a while you’d think these guys would learn how to shoot. But did you ever stop to think that maybe there was a specific reason why the Stormtroopers from Star Wars had such bad aim and were so incompetent? One fan has a theory as to why this is the case and it’s actually pretty legit.
Is it possible that the evil empire is a lot smarter than we all think? Is there a method to this madness? Could it be more complicated than we thought or might it be even more simple? Find out below:
