Bones was one of the many procedural cop shows that managed to snag the attention of the public in a way that was both quirky and fun since it wasn’t all about the cases that the FBI were handling regarding old remains and the possible way in which the victims were killed. It was also about the lives of those that were attempting to solve said murders and how they interacted as people. The show had its serious moments but a lot of times it seemed to break the serious nature by offering up bouts of levity that attracted the casual viewer and eventually turned them into devout watchers that made the bulk of the audience that helped the show reach an impressive 12 seasons before finally going off the air. Any show that lasts that long or longer is going to have trouble keeping people interested for years to come unless they have enough adaptability and a serious hook to set. But Bones definitely entertained a lot of people during its time and managed to go out in just the right way.
Here’s what happened to the cast.
John Francis Daly – Lance Sweets
John has managed to stay busy since he’s been in the business for a while and knows how it works, but also because he’s taken on the role of screenwriter and director as well. With such a wide array of skills he’s able to place himself just about anywhere and can find the kind of work that he can excel at when it comes to getting around movie or TV set. This guy shouldn’t have much trouble keeping himself in the loop for some time to come.
Tamara Taylor – Dr. Camille Saroyan
Tamara has stuck mainly to TV but she has put in a few appearances in movies and she’s even done some voice acting in the past just to round things out a little. But at the moment she’s starring in the Netflix series Altered Carbon as a recurring character and seems to be doing okay. While her career has been going on a steady path rather than climbing to new heights she seems very secure in what she’s doing.
T.J. Thyne-Jack Hodges
T.J. hasn’t done a whole lot it seems after Bones, of course the look of his resume could mean that he’s currently working on projects or he’s taking a break, it’s hard to know. But he’s had a pretty well-established career up until the ending of the show, so it could be that he’s trying to evaluate what he wants to do now. After all when a long-running gig ends it might be time to think about where you want to go and what you want to do now.
Michaela Conlin – Angela Montenegro
Michaela hasn’t been wanting for roles since she came into the business and she certainly isn’t now. As one of the main characters on Bones she was no doubt kind of saddened when the show came to a close but she did manage to move on and find herself a new gig as she’s been a busy woman since. At this point she’s managed to land a role in one of the most talked-about shows on TV at the moment, Yellowstone.
David Boreanaz – Seeley Booth
Remember when he was known widely as Angel and that was about the extent of what he’d done with his career? Well that changed after awhile and he became the jerk in a few projects that people loved to rail against. But that changed again when he played in Bones and became the guy that people wanted to love again. His career has had its slow and fast-paced points but as of now he’s in a good place since he’s starring in SEAL Team as one of the main characters.
Emily Deschanel – Temperance “Bones” Brennan
It almost feels as though Emily might be taking time off to spend with her family, which is perfectly understandable and easily accepted since that kind of time is to be cherished and treasured above everything. She hasn’t been seen in anything since around 2016 and while her bio says she’s still active that seems to be what it might mean, that family time is putting her career on hold for the moment. It’s kind of nice to see that those who work all the time still manage to put things on hold for those that really matter, if that is in fact the case. It could always be that she’s waiting for the right role to come around to, in which case she still gets to spend time with her family. Good times all around.
No matter how successful a show is there comes a time when it’s reached its endpoint and it’s time to say goodbye. Bone is just one in a long line of shows that finally had to drop that final curtain and allow people to move on to the next program.
