Why You Should Give Australian TV Show “Romper Stomper” A Try

Before it was a TV show Romper Stomper was a movie that was made back in the early 90’s that showed the tensions between a racist group of skinheads and several Vietnamese individuals living in Australia. The utter hatred and ignorance displayed by the skinheads was just as virulent back then as it is now though some things have obviously changed. While I don’t really know yet if it’s available in North America it has become available in several other countries. It’s a look at how hatred and negative feelings can still be taught to those who decades later might have finally found something else to do other than hate another person simply because they’re different. It’s also a good look at the way things are in the world as of now.

It might be well worth your time.

5. It has a lot to do with far-right activists.

Being anti-socialism seems to be how a lot of people throughout the US want to be these days so the show might appeal to them in some way. Hopefully however a lot of them would be appalled at the ideas that go along with being far-right since it would seem that the main characters in the story that are focused upon so intently are among the worst examples of what it means to be far-right.

4. It’s a sequel to the film Romper Stomper.

The movie featured in the early 90’s is the basis for this show, as it is a sequel of the original film and is set 25 years in the future. You might think that two and a half decades would instill a sense of humility and understanding in people but it’s usually about who’s doing the teaching and what kind of lessons they’re doling out to those that come after them.

3. Geoffrey Wright directs two of the episodes.

The movie was his directorial debut, and he’s come back to direct two episodes and write a couple as well. Seeing as how the movie was his baby to begin with it just seems right that he would be involved with it on this kind of level again. This should leave people hoping that the show will be granted the same feeling that the movie had, though the transition might make it just a bit different.

2. With current events still unfolding the show has changed from the movie to reflect the current culture.

As I said the gang in the movie were fighting against Vietnamese. In the show the group they fight against are Islamic, as this would better depict the modern times and keep pace with what’s happening in the world. This way the viewer gets a little more realism.

1. It just came out a couple of days ago.

The show was just made available on the 1st of the month so it’s not like anyone has missed out on anything yet. If you’re interested in these types of shows it might be something that you’d like to watch. It could be fairly interesting.

Go on and give it a look.
