Fortnite Is Copying The Competition: Is That Good?

It should be no surprise to anyone that Fortnite has become one of the most (if not the most) popular game to hit fans everywhere around the world. It is also no surprise that even though it is so popular and has players across the globe, it definitely has some stiff competition within the video game industry, and other video games that are available in the market. There are always games coming out with the newest and most desirable features that are worth looking into and many games in general are quite similar; In fact, we have recently seen that Fortnite is actually beginning to copy or rather use some of the competitions features and ideas that are already released to help enhance its own game. Now, this might seem like a bad thing, that they are copying the competition just to increase their popularity and momentum in the industry, but we are here to reassure you that it is not quite as bad as it seems. In this article, we are going to point out some of the features that Fortnite has been copying into their own game from the competition, and why it is a good thing for video games past, present, and future. With that said, let‘s get started.

1. Copying The Competition

From what players have seen this far, it looks as though the majority of the features and updates that Fortnite has made recently have been features that were first realized and used by the game Apex Legends. One of the greatest additions that Fortnite has introduced to its players is the new ping system that is available, and it is safe to say that it is quite similar to that if Apex Legends in general. Although it was first seen in Apex Legends, the new system enhancement is a great addition for Fortnite players, as the system allows for them to communicate with other players in the game without having to use a microphone. This is one of the greater updates that Fortnite has released along with other smaller updates of its own creation; However, even if it is a copied idea from another game, it is not as bad as it seems, and we will discuss why the innovation and evolution is key in this industry in the next portion of our article.

2. Why The Need To “Adopt” New Ideas

At first glance, you may be thinking that it is a total rip off for the ever popular game to be using ideas that were found in other games first, but think again. The video gaming industry can be stiff and tough competition, as there are always innovations and new updates to be had. There is always one game or one company that is one step ahead of the game when it comes to features and updates, and in order for other games to be able to compete in the market, it is sometimes necessary to “adopt” some of those ideas. Now, while the technical aspect is what is copied in this sense, it is important to point out that the programmers and evelopers also work to add in their own features and updates that are specifically unique to the game, and here may even be other games who think those one of a kind features are worth copying also. This is why in the gaming industry, there has to be a bit of literal give and take.

As we have pointed out, the idea of give and take is a natural part of many industries. In order for innovations and evolution to occur throughout the games of our history, there has to be this branching out and “sharing“ of iseas, updates, and features that will essentially make future games even better than ever before. It can also allow for many games on the market to have a long standing with players all across the globe, and to fix any bugs or issues that come with game programming. In any case, we hope that the adaptations and updated features that Fortnite has made (thanks to Apex Legends) will help to keep it a popular game in the industry for quite some time.
