Flip or Flop: Will You Even Watch a New One?

Flip or Flop: Will You Even Watch a New One?

There’s a new Flip or Flop on tonight on HGTV.  It’s called “Midcentury Miss.”  I’m kind of thinking to myself, “do I care?”  Not that I’m such an avid watcher of the show but it just seems impossible to watch this show now that we know all that we know about Tarek El Moussa and Christina El Moussa (I assume soon not to be an El Moussa?).   It’s funny because I used to be obsessed with House Hunters but even after finding out that a large portion of that show is staged, even fake, I still watched it if only to see what types of houses were available for X price around the country.

But as far as Flip or Flop goes, the authenticity of the show really revolved around Tarek and Christina.  What makes the show stand on its own is their relationship.  It’s how they work together to either achieve a successful flip or learn from a failed flop.   It’s not the actual job they do.  It’s the same reason people tune in to watch Chip and Joanna Gaines every week on Fixer Upper.  They don’t watch the show solely for the before and after shots of the houses.  Eventually that would get boring.  People watch because Chip and Joanna are genuine as well as entertaining.

Now that Flip or Flop’s been exposed and Tarek and Christina really aren’t a couple, or anything but business partners for that matter, I don’t think I’ll be tuning in.  HGTV has to understand this and I can only assume the show is completely done.

Will you be tuning in?
