Five Things You Didn’t Know about Kiersey Clemons

Kiersey Clemons is an American actress who is best-known for some of her roles in recent movies as well as some small steps into the music industry. Currently, she is involved with a number of both movies and TV shows, with perhaps the best-known example being Justice League, which will feature a team-up of some of DC Comics’s most iconic superheroes.

Here are five things that you may or may not have known about Kiersey Clemons:

Got Started at a Young Age

Clemons started participating in local theater productions and other creative pursuits when she was still a child. By the time that she was 16, she sought out an agent, which soon resulted in a guest appearance on a Disney Channel TV show called Shake It Up! In time, this led to further appearances in other Disney-related media projects, which provided Clemons’s career with much momentum.

Broke Through with Dope Role

In 2015, Clemons received a fair amount of attention for her role as Cassandra “Diggy” Andrews, who is one of the two best friends of Malcolm Adekanbi on Dope. In brief, the trio are high school students from a low-income neighborhood who end up at a drug dealer’s party, where they leave with a backpack containing a gun as well as plenty of drugs because of the drug dealer’s attempt to hide criminal evidence from a sudden police raid. As a result, the trio get involved in a series of shenanigans in order to realize their dreams without getting into serious trouble in the process.

Musician

Since Clemons started taking vocal lessons when she was still a child, it should come as no surprise to learn that she happens to have singing skills in addition to her acting skills. For proof, look no further than the fact that she has collaborated with Pharrell Williams on more than one song, which should be a familiar name to a lot of people out there. Furthermore, it is worth noting that Clemons has appeared in music videos such as Lady Gaga’s “Til It Happens to You,” which is about the prevalence of rape on college campuses.

Played a Co-Founder of Kappa Nu

One of Clemons’s other well-known roles was Beth on Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. In brief, she played one of three female college students who decided to found their own sorority Kappa Nu in response to their outrage at the fact that sororities at their school aren’t permitted to host their own parties. Over the course of the movie, they clash with the protagonists of the movie, come close to losing their original ideals, but nonetheless manage to reconcile and make a success of their project in the end.

Cast as Iris West

Clemons has been chosen to play Iris West in the DC Extended Universe, which is the collective name for the current movies based on DC comic books. For those who are unfamiliar with the name, she is the Flash’s love interest in the comic books as well as on the TV screen, though their exact circumstances have significant differences between the two mediums. Regardless, the Flash movie has encountered more than its fair share of development issues, but it is interesting to note that Clemons will be showing up as Iris West in Justice League, which is expected to be released in November of 2017.
