Jesse Lacey is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and music producer. He has been a professional performer since 1999 and is best-known as the vocalist and lead guitarist for the band ‘Brand New’ which he has been a member of since 2000. He has also performed as a solo artist since 2004, although he has yet to produce any solo music. Recently, he has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. He has been faced with sexual misconduct allegations, some of which involve minors.
These allegations date back to when Lacey was in his 20s. Although Lacey has issued a statement admitting that he has cheated on his wife and apologizing for any harm and upset he has caused, he has not directly responded to the claims of sexual misconduct. 1. His Parents Musical Tastes Inspired Him
Although his parents are not from a musical background, they enjoyed listening to music when Lacey was growing up. Their preferences were for music by The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Steely Dan, and Bruce Springsteen. Jesse Lacey has credited his parents’ musical tastes for influencing the type of music he performs today.
2. He Was in Bands with John Nolan in His Youth
While at General Douglas MacArthur High School, Lacey met John Nolan. It was Nolan who convinced Lacey that he should learn to play the bass guitar and the pair went on to perform in several bands together during their youth. John Nolan is best-known as the co-lead vocalist and the guitarist for ‘Taking Back Sunday’.
3. He Has Collaborated with Kevin Devine
Although he is best-known for being a part of ‘Brand New’, Jesse Lacey has often collaborated with Kevin Devine. He is featured in Devine’s 2005 album ‘Split the Country, Split the Street’. On this album, he provides the vocals for several songs, including ‘No One Else’s Problem’, ‘Cotton Crush’, and ‘After Party’. He also contributed to Devine’s 2009 album ‘Brother’s Blood’. Lacey and Devine have performed together on tour with Manchester Orchestra.
4. He Keeps His Private Life Private
Jesse Lacey likes to keep his personal life private and doesn’t even have his own social media pages. It is very rare that he gives an interview. He is married to Andrea King and they have a daughter, Bowie, who was born on January 11, 2016. However, he never discusses his home life with the media.
5. He Has Written Video Game Soundtracks and Music for TV Series
In addition to performing with bands and as a solo artist, Jesse Lacey has also contributed to the soundtracks for several video games and television series. He has written songs for the video games ‘NHL 2004′, ‘Burnout Dominator’, ‘Burnout Paradise’, and ‘Guitar Hero 5′. In terms of music for television series, he has contributed to the soundtracks for ‘The Vampire Diaries’, ‘SGU Stargate Universe’, and ‘Smallville’.
