Esther Garrel might be a big name in France where she’s been acting for so long but there’s no doubt that she could become well known throughout the world if she broadened her horizons, or perhaps if she became that big of a star in her own country. Some people within the US are into foreign films so it might be that she’s already well known and those of us that don’t watch a lot of foreign films don’t know.
Whatever the case she’s definitely a proven actress.
5. She made her first appearance onscreen at the age of eight.
I’d say that this is extremely impressive but a lot of people are starting out young now and it’s not quite as impressive as it used to be. Still, to stick with it this long, she’s in her mid to late twenties now, is enough to show that she has the dedication and willingness to work that is required. Perhaps the chances are good that she’ll stick around for a while and become an even bigger star as the years go by.
4. She comes from a family of actors.
Her mother, brother, and grandfather are all actors, and her father is a filmmaker, so it would seem that from a young age her course might have been set. Of course she could have gone in any direction she wanted by the chances of that in a family that is so well attuned to this type of industry are fifty-fifty at most it would seem. It’s all a matter of what she was exposed to and how she reacted to it when she was younger. Obviously she liked it well enough that she stuck with it.
3. She was in the film Call Me By Your Name.
She plays the role of Marzia, Elio’s girlfriend and eventual friend. The role seems like it would have been easy enough as there wasn’t as much physical contact between Elio and Marzia as there was between Elio and Oliver. In real life I do wonder how that plays out when a young woman realizes her boyfriend could be gay. There have been plenty of stories about it but the idea is still one that seems like it would be tough to accept right away.
2. She’s still a young actress with a lot of potential.
Being in her twenties she still has a lot of good years to go and if she continues to stick with it then there’s no telling just how far her career could go. The potential that any actor has when they’re young is still largely untapped since even if she’s been acting for almost two decades there is always something different she could and something more to learn about a craft that has been developing for so long.
1. Thus far she’s only been in movies.
There’s no telling if she’ll decide to take a role on a TV program anytime soon but thus far she’s stuck to movies, which is likely more lucrative and has a slightly better chance of furthering her career.
She’s still got a lot of good years left.
