Fans of “Jersey Shore” knew that the day would come when the popular cast would gather again for a reunion special. It was a long time in coming, since the series ended in 2012 and die hard enthusiasts who appreciated the show wondered what happened to their favorites in the five years since the final episode launched. It happened in the form of a thirty minute special titled “Reunion Road Trip: Return to the Jersey Shore.” Here are five important life lessons that we learned in the half hour segment.
1. People can change
The Situation went through some pretty profound life changes. He went from being on top of the world to being accused of tax evasion, and a serious addiction issue. We learned that he turned his life around and hadn’t touched a drop for a year and a half at the time that the show aired. The lesson this taught viewers is that we are capable of change. Both for the better or for the worse, the decision is up to us. We can have everything one moment and lose it the next if we don’t make good decisions.
2. Cosmetic enhancements don’t always work
We learned this from Snooki’s new look. She appeared on the special sporting a new lip job, but honestly, it isn’t very flattering. It looks like whoever performed the procedure should have had a little more practice before trying it on a real liver person. Fan’s were a bit shocked to see her looking this way. This just goes to show you that if you’re not happy with your looks, consider the consequences of trying to improve on it, because there’s always a risk that cosmetic enhancements will go awry and land you on an episode of “Botched.”
3. It’s good to reconnect with old friends
If there’s someone special you haven’t seen in a while, it might be a good idea to take a day trip to catch up with each other. We learned through the half hour special that they’re still great friends and there is a certain magic that happens when they’re back together. They’re still funny, and still taking pot shots at each other but it’s obvious that the reunion meant something to each of them. It’s not difficult to see that they enjoyed being together, and real friendship is a valuable treasure that we too often take for granted.
4. We should all pay our taxes
Poor Mike seems to have made an error. He messed with the IRS and it hasn’t gone too well for him. At the airing of the special, The Situation was preparing to go back into court on tax evasion charges. It won’t be long until he knows what is going to happen over the allegations made against him. From the conversations, we think it’s safe to assume that he’s not out of the woods with the tax collectors yet. He’s hopeful about avoiding jail time. Snooki rubbed it in and actually asked him if he was going to jail. It’s obviously a sore subject for him.
5. Some wounds never heal
We learned that when you hold onto bad feelings it can rob you of a good time. Sammi had a few choice words to say about Ron. Talking about the good old days and all of the fun that you had together is far better than dredging up past dramas. She shared her less than positive feelings about Ron and gave us a strong indication that she’s not going to open any doors for a relationship in the near future.
