The Five Most Important Negan Kills on “The Walking Dead”

Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is one of “The Walking Dead’s” most dangerous villains. Before Negan, Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) group ran into some ruthless leaders in the world of the Zombie Apocalypse. Given power over people, it seems, makes even the best of humanity become drunk with power. Negan is a one of a kind villain on “The Walking Dead”. He takes ruthless to a whole new level. Of course, Negan must once have been a good guy. Even in the world of the Zombie Apocalypse, sometimes Negan seems to have a conscience. He’s a man-boy who loves power. When Negan kills, it’s sudden, surprising and brutal.

Here are the 5 most important Negan kills on “The Walking Dead”.

Negan Kills Glenn

The most shocking of Negan’s Negan’s kills was Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun). Glenn was a character on “The Walking Dead” since the start. The honest and moral man was a pizza delivery boy in Atlanta who evolved into a strong man and a good friend over the course of “The Walking Dead”. Glenn was often the voice of reason in Rick’s group. He countered the group members’ knee jerk reactions by bringing wisdom and sanity. In fact, Glenn never killed a living person. Although the character of the television show met his death much like that of the comic book series, Glenn’s death shocked fans. There were several references throughout the television series that referenced Glenn’s future death by baseball bat. Back at Terminus, Glenn nearly met his fate with a baseball bat in the hands of the cannibals. Talking to Rick at Noah’s family home, Glenn held a bat in his hand. However, when Glenn was thought to be killed by a herd of walkers and went missing for several episodes, fans were devastated. Glenn miraculously survived. So, when Negan bludgeoned Abraham, there was no need to fear soon to be father Glenn would be killed. When Daryl (Norman Reedus) was ready to retaliate Abraham’s death, Negan reacted by bludgeoning Glenn’s head with Negan’s bat, Lucille.

Negan Kills Abraham

When we were introduced to Negan at the end of Season 6, the mysterious leader of The Saviors threatened to bludgeon one of Rick’s group in retaliation for the group killing some of The Saviors. Negan had 11 captured members of Rick’s group kneel before him and told them that they were going to work for The Saviors now. As punishment for killing some of Negan’s men, one person in Rick’s group would be sacrificed. We had to wait many months before Season 7 began to see who would be killed. Negan warned the group not to try to stop him. After a tense game of “Eeny Meeny Miney Moe”, our favorite swearing, mustachioed ginger met his death with his usual verbal defiance. Tough guy Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) met his death by barbed wire covered bat nobly.

Negan Kills Simon

Negan constantly reasserts his power. He recently killed his second in command, Simon (Steven Ogg). With Negan seemingly out of commission, Simon was ready to take over control of The Saviors. When he discovered Negan was back, instead of taking back his place as second in command, Simon planned a mutiny. Unfortunately for Simon, Dwight (Austin Amelio) double crossed him and informed Negan. Negan didn’t use his trusted bat to kill Simon. Instead, Negan challenged Simon to a fight and the winner would take all. Unfortunately, for Simon, he lost when Negan crushed his throat. Simon was next seen as a zombie trapped behind The Sanctuary’s fence.

Negan Kills Doctor Carson

Negan is intent on establishing authority and punishing those who cross him. When we are first introduced to The Saviors’ Sanctuary, Eugene is given a tour and witnesses Negan’s brutality of his own people. Conflicted good guy Dwight helped Daryl and Sherry escape The Sanctuary but told Negan that Doctor Carson was the one responsible. As Dwight, Eugene and The Saviors look on, Negan suddenly throws Doctor Carson into the kiln burning the poor, innocent guy alive.

Negan Kills David

The thing about Negan is that he sometimes seems to have a conscience. When he finds that his own man, David, attempted to rape Sasha, Negan gave out swift punishment. He scolds and teases David a bit before lunging a knife through the guy’s neck. Negan is a conflicting antagonist. We know he loves power. He makes an interesting villain as he takes control over other groups of survivors of the apocalypse. Clearly, Negan also has a sense of justice, and rape is just not allowed in the world that he leads.
