You might feel one way or another about garden gnomes. Some people collect them incessantly and could populate a whole block with them, while others find them a bit creepy and even off-putting. However you might look at the red-capped little guys it’s easy to believe that you’ve never seen them as protectors or anything other than charming little garden decorations. Gnome Alone is a different kind of look at garden gnomes and how they serve as helpers and the last defense against small, spheroid monsters known as Troggs. These tiny aliens are particularly nasty and are the enemies of the garden gnomes, so it’s about to be all-out war throughout this film. In terms of how it looks the film actually seems like it might be kind of charming.
So why should we be excited about this film?
It looks like it might be worth watching.
Between the movies, TV, and Netflix there has been an overwhelming amount of new shows and films coming out this year and about a third of them have been flops while a third of them have been hits. That leaves the other third to be counted as good but not incredible. This film looks like it could be good time for adults and kids alike considering that the aliens are little more than purple balls with arms, legs, and teeth, and the gnomes are far more personable than their realistic counterparts. There’s a good chance that this film could be one of the better productions to make its way to the public eye in a while.
The gnomes don’t have that irritating cherubic appearance.
Remember Gnomeo and Juliet? No? Well you’re not alone. As much of a smash as the movie was supposed to be the appearance of the gnomes was slightly creepy. Something about the big, wide eyes and perky, puffed up cheeks just didn’t seem right despite the fact that it was a cartoon. The gnomes in this film aren’t really perky, but they’re still relatively well done due to the fact that their expressions are a little more realistic and can follow the flow of the film. Upbeat and bright-eyed gnomes creep some people out largely because it seems like they’re up to no good somehow.
The gnomes aren’t acting alone or trying to stay out of sight.
At first they’re doing their best not to be seen of course. But it doesn’t seem too far into the film that they’re attempting to enlist the young girl, Chloe, so that they can better defend her home against the Troggs. And of course they have to bring in her neighbor, the wannabe smooth-talker Liam, which makes for more hilarity and a bonding experience that will likely help them win the day. In other words they’re not trying to keep their mission under wraps from all humans, just those that probably wouldn’t understand, like the adults.
Gnome Alone is supposed to be hitting theaters in October of this year, and it should be a laugh riot for the whole family.
