Don’t be too sad but it looks like the Deadpool animated series is going to be put on hold for the time being as Donald Glover and FX have waked away from it at the moment. As of right now FX is citing creative differences but it could just be that Donald Glover is a very weary man at the moment. If you look at everything he’s done as of late you might find that this is a lot more accurate, though it could be due to creative differences as well. After all the guy has been inordinately busy.
He’s written and starred in FX’s show Atlanta, has a role in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, won a Grammy as Childish Gambino, and will be voicing the part of Simba in the live action version of The Lion King. Plus, he just welcomed a new baby into his family so you should be able to deduce that the guy is just flat out tired and could use some well-deserved rest. It hasn’t been said that the series has been shelved, just that they walked away from it. The creative differences could be something that they might hammer out later, but right now Glover could be looking for some peace and quiet for a while and really, no one should be able to blame him for it. Just welcoming a child into your life is a big step for anyone, even if they’re your second child it’s a lot of work to take care of one’s family during such a blessed event. When you add everything else that he’s been doing to it there’s only so much one person can take before they need to just kick back with their kid swaddled in the crook of their arm and take a nice, long, deep breath.
Yeah, the Deadpool series can wait for now, but considering that it’s going to be more for adults you can’t help but hope that it might be picked up again when Glover has time. After all Deadpool has come out in a big way since his initial film, which almost seemed like a grand apology for the haphazard and sloppy way that he was brought in during X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Some people might have grinned and said ‘whatever’ during that movie when Deadpool was granted multiple powers and the ability to take on both Sabretooth and Wolverine at the same time. Well, that one might still be feasible but the multiple powers has never been a part of his makeup. In fact the only power that Deadpool does have is the ability to heal from pretty much anything. The only person that’s been able to really kill him was Thanos, and even then the mad titan didn’t since that would have brought him closer to the one entity that Thanos actually cares for, death.
So yes, it’s hopeful that the Deadpool series will see Glover return, but for now let’s cut the guy some slack and let him enjoy his life for a few breaths.
