Disney XD’s “Big Hero 6” The Series Launching in November of 2017

Big Hero 6

Disney XD is launching a new animated series this fall and it won’t be long until it’s here. “Big Hero 6” is the science fiction animation that is inspired by the movie with the same title that was released in 2014. Who would have imagined that just three years later there would be a weekly series launched to carry on the stories of the characters? Here is what we know about the new television series so far.

Creation of the show

Fans of “Big Hero 6” will already have an idea of what to expect from the upcoming animated series. It is a production of Disney Television Animation so our expectations are already high. Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, the creators of “Kim Possible” are responsible for helping to bring the new show to life. They’re not going int he direction of 3D animation as we saw in the film, but rather, they’re going to stick with the traditional 2D. The creators are basing the series on the film and it will take place after the events of the film so we’ll learn more about the characters as they move forward from where the movie left off.

Big plans for success

The pilot for the new series is on the schedule to make its debut on November 20, 2017. This will kick off the show which will air episodes early in 2018. The producers and network affiliates have so much confidence in this new show that they have already consented to the renewal for a second season. This may be taking a leap of faith, but it’s probably a safe bet that the series will increase viewership. It has all of the makings of being a big draw for Disney XD.

What to expect

The show will focus on the adventures of Hiro who is a 14 year old tech genius. His buddy and personal robot Baymax will also be there to assist. They will be joined by the characers Wasabi, Fred, Honey Lemon and Go Go Tomago and this group will come together to create the superhero team that is referred to as “Big Hero 6,” hence the title of the show.

Hiro is the new guy at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology and he’s younger than most others so he’s up for a lot of academic challenges as well as fitting in with the older characters on the ampus. The city that the high tech heroes are living in comes under the threat of villains which have been scientifically enhanced, and this provides the fodder for many of the adventures that create the action and excitement of the show. It’s the tale of good versus evil but with a twist that makes it a little more interesting for younger viewers who will enjoy seeing someone their age, or perhaps a little older in the role of superhero. Each episode will be filled with a good share of drama and action/adventure as well as comedy to keep it light in spots.

Cast and crew

The creators Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley are assisted by director Nick Filippi as crew members who set the stage for the talented voice actors who lend their talents to bring the characters to life. The voice of Hiro Hamada is played by voice actor Ryan Potter who is returning to the series to reprise his role. Potter is joined by other former cast members including Scott Adsit as Baymax, Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass, Jamie Chung as Go Go Tomago, Genesis Rodriguez as Honey Lemon,

Jenifer Lewis as Professor Granville, Andrew Scott as Obake and Andy Richter as Globby. Of course the famed Stan Lee will appear as Fred’s Faather, but Fred will instead be played by Brooks Wheelan as well as the role of Wasabi having the new actor Khary Payton. We’ll also hear the voice of David Shaughnessy as Heathcliff, Alan Tudyk as Alistair Krei, Diedrich Bader as Bluff Dunder, and Susan Sullivan as Fred’s mom. Rounding out the cast will be Seasn Giambrone as RichardsonMole, Jeff bennett as Baron Von Steamer, Haley Tju as Karmi and John Ross Bowie as Mel.

You won’t want to miss the premiere of this new exciting animation so put the date on your calendars. The pilot will give you a taste of what will be to come as we round the new year and head into 2018. The show promises to deliver high for fans of the original movie so set the date and tune in to get in on the first episode.
