Days of Our Lives fans get to see a long list of people come and go over the years. The actors who take on roles on this show are not just looking for work — they are looking to start careers of their own. Some want to stay in the daytime genre. Others want to go elsewhere and do bigger things with their lives, whether they are starring in major motion pictures, Hallmark made-for-television movies, or they are simply working on saving enough money to do what they want to do. This means it’s not uncommon for men to come onto the show, spend some time working as a character you grow to love, and then they leave. And that makes us wonder; who are the favorites? Who do fans love the most? Who are the most popular actors on Days of Our Lives? We’re breaking it down for you.
Joseph Mascolo
He gets to take the top spot no matter what else happens. He is a man who is no longer with us, but he is a man who has spent a long time working on his career, and he took on the role of Stefano DiMera for many years. But, when he passed, fans knew that he would never be replaced. He was not coming back to the show as he had done so many times in the past, and it was heartbreaking. His real-life death was the end of a beautiful and bittersweet era. We could always count on Stefano to come back when we thought he was finally and for sure dead. And he never was. There will never be another man who can do this role any justice.
Peter Reckell
The former Bo Brady was a big fan favorite. For whatever reason, he was pure magic on the set. He was a man who could capture your attention and run with it no matter what he did. Fans were devastated when, after nearly three decades on the show, he was written off without much more than a goodbye and an unanswered situation. They were then brought back to life when he came back in 2015, but they were again knocked off their feet with sadness when the character actually died as a result. He had a brain tumor when he came back, and that meant he spent a lot of time saying his goodbyes while fans mourned the loss of Bo.
Stephen Nichols
THs is one man who brings us so much joy. He’s Patch, and we love him. He is a man who has been around for so long playing this role, and he is so good at it. He and Kayla are the most remarkable couple, and they have been through so much. When the show wrote him out without a story line or a goodbye or anything other than a casual “Oh, by the way, he was arrested and charged with espionage elsewhere off the screen” goodbye to Kayla, we were all furious. In fact, this might be the most disgusting send off of anyone, and he deserves so much more than that. He’s a total fan favorite, and we love him. Of course, we hope this means there is an open door for his return.
Drake Hogestyn
There are things that don’t make sense to us sometimes, and he is one of those things. But that doesn’t change the fact that he is a huge fan favorite all the time. He came onto the show as Roman, but he wasn’t really Roman. Actually, we still have no idea what happened, how it makes sense, or what was going on. But, we do know that there is more complex stuff to worry about. We might not get him or what happened all those years ago, but we love John. And that’s all that matters. He is a man who brings it every single time he is on the camera, and that’s not something you can deny in any capacity unless you’re working to bring something else to the table. He’s a man of many skills, and capturing our hearts is certainly a skill that lands him on a lot of great lists around here.
