Have you ever stopped to think just how good fan-made films have become over the years? In particular, Star Wars fan-made films? It’s almost like there’s been a ridiculously increased production value. In reality it’s simple technology. Tools are getting better, cheaper, and people can make high quality films in less time and for less money. But I will say this. Some of these films are truly unbelievable and deserve their own spots in cinema. How about we add a category to awards shows called “best fan made film?” I think this would be a great idea. The costumes are solid; not the best Vader, but Buzz is appropriately janky. The special effects, though, can only be explained by the people who made it having been Jedi Knights. Its got humor, too, with a few zingers and hard-to-miss references. (“Who is Zerg?”) “Darth Vader vs Buzz Lightyear” comes from YouTube channel Nukazooka; click over to YouTube for the short film’s full credits. Nukazooka has been blessing YouTube with its creativity for years. Greatest hits include “Mario vs Minecraft” (58 million views) and “Real Life Super Mario” (33.5 million).They’ve also real-lifed Roller Coaster Tycoon and LEGOs, and concocted battles like Zelda vs. Peach and Fallout vs Skyrim.
