The all-athlete cast for Dancing With The Stars has been set and their dancing partners have had a chance to meet up with and get used to their new partners, so it’s time to get on with the show eventually. This season of DWTS is bound to be something pretty fun to watch since using all athletes almost assures that the footwork shouldn’t be as much of an issue and the ability to move their bodies shouldn’t be all that big of a deal either. Of course given that not all the athletes are from the same sport it might be argued that some of them won’t have the same level of grace that some have exhibited in the past. Plus a few of the athletes are kind of past their prime so it could be something interesting to watch, but also something that you should expect to be tailored to their fitness level and tailored to suit them best.
The couples are as follows:
Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess
Arike Ogunbowale and Gleb Savchenko
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lindsay Arnold
Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber
Johnny Damon and Emma Slater
Jamie Anderson and Artem Chigvintsev
Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson
Jennie Finch and Keo Motsepe
Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson
Mirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten
In order to get the show rolling there were three weeks of rehearsals and there will be four weeks of the show. As fans already know, within each week two couples will be voted off. Likely as not this season will fly by as people watch their favorite athletes take the floor in an effort to show that they’ve still got it or never lost it in the first place. It will be interesting to see athletes such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Tonya Harding getting out there simply because there’s no telling just what kind of shape they’re going to be in. But the excitement is really just seeing them get out there in an attempt to strut their stuff and wow the audience and the judges.
So far it’s shaping up to be an exciting time as the fans are looking forward to see just how the couples will do this season and who will be going home first. The reality of being an athlete doesn’t guarantee victory on DWTS after all, as dancing is quite a bit different from the other sports that some of these people excelled in. The movements are different, the feeling is different, and the rhythm can be a whole lot different. That’s not to say that they won’t be able to do it, but hopefully they can adapt given the amount of time they have and the natural ability they’ve already been given through years of training. It’ll be fun to watch no doubt and very telling to see who’s been keeping themselves in shape and who’s allowed the down times to kind of soften them up.
Oh yes, athletes do let themselves get soft occasionally. Let’s hope they’ve stayed in shape.
