The “Creepy” Part of The Black Panther Comic Books The Movie Won’t Include

I’m not sure how creepy the part that won’t make into the Black Panther movie is but even the fact that it’s in the comic books is kind of disturbing. As you might have already seen the rle of the king’s personal guard is going to be taken up by an all-woman cast. This was prevalent in the comic books as well and has made the transition from the pages to the movie. What won’t make it though is the fact that each one of the royal guard have the potential to be betrothed to the king. I’m not entirely certain how this works, but it sounds like that at any time if the king wanted he could have another wife from his royal guard without much fuss.

What man would go for such a thing? What woman would stand for such a thing? Those are easy questions for people that don’t come from cultures that allow for multiple wives, as in America we tend to think that one wife, one husband is a workable deal. But it’s not just the aspect of marriage in this case, but a right of the ruling caste apparently. Personally I don’t see having more than one wife as a boon, and I also don’t see the upside of being able to pick out a new wife from the women that are guarding you. Maybe I’m old-fashioned but it seems odd, not so much creepy, that a king would see fit to be able to just up and marry any woman he wanted.

Maybe I’m not fully understanding the idea but it still seems like an oddity that makes a macabre sort of sense. They’re willing to lay down their lives for him and so there would be a connection there, but it also seems more likely that a few of them might not like their king in such a way even if they were sworn to defend him to the death. That seems like it would be an implied thing to allude to human nature, but not something that a royal guard would ever say to their king, especially if they were selected to become the next queen, or concubine, or whatever title they would take.

Thankfully to avoid confusion and to keep from upsetting those folks that tend to cry foul at everything they can in the movies these days this aspect won’t be making into the movie. The royal guards will be there but this aspect won’t be getting mentioned apparently. That makes a lot of sense considering that most movies have something that will already draw the ire or questions of the fans in some way.

I do recall that at one point the Black Panther took Storm of the X-Men as his queen. Something tells me that since she was an Americanized superhero that she might not take too kindly to her royal husband taking another wife. In fact given her power set I don’t think, even as a king, that I would be antagonizing her with even the thought of such a thing.
