Is it me or does it feel like the 2016 Rio Olympics was 20 years ago? Seriously. It’s hard to believe that they took place this past summer but it’s the truth. Feels like so long ago and yet I can remember the stories like it was yesterday. Ryan Lochte was a moron. Simon Biles was absurd. The pool water was never fully blue. And yeah, there are a bunch more. But did you ever think what happens to all the millions spent on creating the Olympics? Where are all the venues now? What do the buildings look like? You’ll be 100% depressed when you see the answer below.
In a series of eerie and depressing new photos released last week, the 2016 Summer Olympic venues in Rio de Janeiro are seen filthy and deserted just 6 months after the end of the games, including the legendary Maracana Stadium
If you’re recall the Olympics were loaded with scandal and it was said the Olympic Village had some of the worst conditions in Olympics history. Right now Brazil is millions in debt international creditors, and now also owes over $900,000 to a local energy company.
The future of all these buildings remains uncertain but boy is this depressing to see.
