Check Out Contra in the Real World on its 30th Anniversary

Just about anyone who owned an NES is familiar with the game Contra.  It’s a classic.  From the amazing unlimited lives code (up down up down..you know the rest) to the music to the sick weapons you got to use, in the pantheon of greatest games of the Nintendo Entertainment System, most people would put it in the top ten.  The series just celebrated its 30th anniversary, as the arcade version began appearing in arcades in late February, 1987.

Though most people are much more familiar with the home version and hold a special place for it in their hearts, 30 years is one hell of a milestone.  While I talk about Contra in a positive light as most people do, there’s a fan out there by the name of Captain Steve V1 who may never, ever let Contra die.  Obsessed would be an understatement.

He put together a fantastic tribute to Contra using nothing but some Nerf guns, some digital effects, and a whole bunch of free time. The video went viral on FaceBook but hasn’t found its way to Youtube until recently.
