For years, actor Bryan Cranston has been developing a fan following. However, he is undoubtedly best known for his work in the groundbreaking and tremendously popular television series Breaking Bad. Although the series actually ended some time ago, it is still easily one of the most popular shows out there and it has a fan following that is even a little scary at times. Starring in the show propelled Cranston’s popularity into the stratosphere. As a direct result, he can’t really go anywhere without having fans descend upon him, asking for autographs on every kind of item you could possibly imagine. Without a doubt, this would eventually take a toll on any individual. Just imagine what it would be like if you were not able to walk outside your door without being completely surrounded by well-meaning but slightly over zealous individuals that wanted to know everything possible about your personal life, all while shoving things in your face right and left, asking you to sign your name to all of it.
For Cranston, this is basically a reality and it is something that he has to face every single day of his life. As a result, he sent out a tweet recently that explained to his fans that he would no longer be willing to sign autographs in any capacity. He mentioned, in the kindest way possible, that he really did enjoy talking with his fans and being an active part of that portion of their lives, but that he just could not continue to sign autographs on so many items. Cranston offered something in exchange, hoping not to disappoint his fans.
As a result, he offered to take a selfie with anyone that wanted to do so. Some people wonder why there is still so much craze when it comes to having something signed because as a society, we are essentially living in a digital age. With that being said, there are a lot of people that did not grow up in the digital age and they still like to have something tangible that they can hold onto and look at. Perhaps that is the reason that so many people are still asking Cranston for autographs.
For those that prefer to have something tangible that they can actually hold in their hands, there is a solution. They can always take a selfie with Cranston and then have that picture printed out. While he is not willing to autograph it, it does give them the opportunity to look at that picture and even hold it while they are reflecting on the moment they had with one of their favorite actors. It seems like a trade-off that is more than fair, especially when you consider the very kind way that Cranston made this announcement. Let’s face it, a lot of actors are far less kind about what they are and are not willing to do for their fans. Cranston made it very clear from the beginning that his desire was not to disappoint anyone and that he wanted fans’ opportunities to be fair across the board. That is as much as you can ask from anyone, celebrity or not.
