Ben Affleck Talks About Jennifer Garner Divorce on Ellen

Affleck

While most news concerning Ben Affleck centers around his upcoming movie Batman V Superman, whenever Jennifer Garner and him are mentioned in the same sentence it makes news.  And in what appears to be the first time he’s publicly talked about the breakdown of their marriage, things seem to be more amicable these days.  Affleck sat down with Ellen Degeneres to talk about the failed marriage and their children.

Dressed casually and speaking calmly, the audience seemed to react well to Affleck’s demeanor and concern for the former couple’s kids.  Ben said: “We’re goods friends and we’re doing our best, and the kids are fabulous and we’re working on our best for them.”  Degeneres agreed as did the audience.

Ben and Jennifer have three children together:  Violet, 10, Seraphina, seven, and Samuel, three.  When the mood lightened up a little bit he talked about how his kids love superhero movies and particularly how they’re going to love Batman V Superman.   Affleck commented,

“I haven’t done anything that my kids can see for a long time, so I thought that would be kind of cool.  My son thinks it’s really cool. He came to the set, he saw me, he was a little bit suspicious. He was like, ‘Is that the real Superman?’ He’s four so to him that’s the real Superman. When I leave, he’s like, ‘Dad are you going to the Batcave? So I’m like, ‘Yes, I am.’ And I know eventually he’s going to be in therapy, like, ‘He lied! To me, there’s no Batcave, he’s doing Ellen!’

The timing of the interview with Ellen isn’t a surprise.  It comes right in the wake of a tell all memoir that Jennifer Garner did in Vanity Fair.   In that piece Garner says,

We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgement? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives.

She too mentioned that they’re doing what’s best for the kids. Here’s Ben’s interview on Ellen.
