In the words of Swedish rock band Europe, “It’s the final countdown” on America’s Got Talent. Five more acts are set to compete in the finale next week along with the previous five acts. Did your favorites make it through? Let’s find out, shall we?
It shocked me to see Steven Brundage and Viktor Kee in the bottom three. Their performances last night was fantastic. How could America not vote for them? I mean, sure there were some aspects where their acts felt a bit lacking regarding execution, but it was very minor. Sofie Dossi had a great act, but her act just felt like the same as the ones before. I don’t know why America voted for her in the Dunkin’ Save, but I suppose it’s because contortion is tough.
The Clairvoyants also made it through to the finals along with Brian Justin Crum. Their performances were jaw-droppingly good, and I would pay to see them either at a concert or a Vegas show. These two just might be the top two contenders in the finale. Just a thought.
Jayna Brown, unfortunately, didn’t make it to the finals. I was so sure that she would make it through from what I saw last night. She has a great voice, but I guess she just didn’t step it up enough to get more votes from those watching at home. Though I still think that she will get a record deal regardless. I’ve seen runner-ups from various singing competitions like American Idol and The Voice go on to record music and put out albums.
The second semi-finals also revealed some fascinating facts about the judges. My eyes were wide as saucers when I heard that Heidi Klum used to roast boogers when she was a kid. Why, Heidi, why? When Nick got to the last question where the judges had to guess which one of them wore a bikini at an awards show, I thought it was either Mel B or Heidi. Imagine my shock when the answer was none other than Howie Mandel. Somehow I don’t think I can ever unsee that. Sorry, Howie. Singer Andra Day and previous America’s Got Talent contestant Blue Journey performed. Day’s song Rise Up was both emotional and powerful. It fit perfectly with Blue Journey’s performance and the graphics that accompanied it.
I look forward to watching the two-night finale of the best show of the summer next Tuesday. Who do you think deserves to win the million dollars and the headline show in Las Vegas? Care to comment?
