Amazing Cosplay Was On Hand in Osaka, Japan Over the Weekend

The most impressive cosplay you’ll generally see throughout the year is at the major conventions.  Places like Comic Con or Pax or numerous others throughout the world is where the legions of costume aficionados come out to play and impress with their cosplay skills.  But as we know, conventions are not the only places to find people’s impressive cosplaying ability.  Each year more avenues of cosplay are introduced and more areas in the world are overrun by this hugely popular culture.

Last year for example, an area called Nipponbashi in Osaka, Japan was taken over by 250,000 people in the streets.  Considered the “geek” area, each year people gather to “geek out” and get a little crazy.  The area of Nipponbashi is known colloquially as “Den-Den Town.” Nipponbashi is known for its many shops which specialize in furniture, tools, and “otaku” interests such as electronics, animation, manga, and collectibles. Nipponbashi is often compared to Akihabara Electric Town, its equivalent (in terms of focus) in Tokyo.

While the tally isn’t available yet, this year’s turn out in Nipponbashi may have easily surpassed last year’s 250,000.   The geeks certainly came out to play this year and thankfully we have a humongous amount of proof in the form of numerous tweets.  Catch some of the best cosplay over the weekend below:
