How Far Should Yellowstone Go?

Yellowstone Season 5: Release Date, Cast, Spoilers and How to Watch

It’s already been determined by the creator of Yellowstone how far the show will go, but that still begs the question of how far things should be allowed to keep moving forward. So far in four seasons, it’s been established that John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, doesn’t really get along with a lot of people, but he does care about his family and his land. He’s willing to do quite a bit to protect both since he’s made it clear that anyone even setting foot on his land without his permission isn’t welcome. The things that have been done by those who live on and work for the Yellowstone Ranch are numerous and unsettling, and the majority have been by John’s direction. There have been a few things that have happened that John didn’t know much about until they happened, but the understanding is that at some point, he knows everything there is to know about his land and what happens on it. This is one of the many reasons why this show is so interesting since the Duttons and those that care about them are bound to do anything to keep life moving forward the way it is.

The story of John and his kids does not have an easy ending, that’s for certain.

There are so many issues between John and his kids that it’s very easy to think that a good part of the show could be dedicated to their relationships without veering off into other storylines. Out of his three kids, Beth is undeniably the most popular since she’s the most no-nonsense person of the bunch, not to mention that she’s far tougher than her brothers Jamie and Kayce since she’s had to be in her life. But the dynamic between Beth and Jamie is insane since her absolute hatred for him is nothing short of maniacal. On the other hand, Kayce, who wanted to stay away from the family for so long, has only managed to get deeper in up until this point.

Rip Wheeler is by far one of the more interesting characters of the bunch.

There’s no such thing as ‘poor Rip’ in this show since the guy is just too tough and designed to take the ills of the world, and the ranch, in stride as he’s John’s right-hand man and the guy that everyone listens to on the ranch if they’re smart. The brief power struggle between Kayce and Rip that occurred a while back was something that had to happen since, with a Dutton taking on more responsibilities, Rip was relegated back to being a hired hand, which obviously didn’t sit well with a lot of people. For the majority of the show, however, Rip has been the guy that John relies on the most since Rip knows the ranch and knows what it means to earn everything he’s given. If there’s one person that stands as the backbone and nerve center of this show, it’s Rip, since he takes on a huge amount of responsibility that a lot of the others couldn’t handle if it were laid on their shoulders.

The walls are starting to close in on the Duttons as their enemies continue to press them.

If there’s one thing that the Dutton family has been good at, it’s knowing how to defend against the people that are trying to take their land. But as the seasons have rolled on, it’s fair to say that their defense has been faltering, which means that it would be surprising to see this show last for more than a couple more seasons. The premise is still strong, and the various storylines are still fun to watch, but at some point, it does feel that John’s luck will run out and the next bullet he catches will be his last. With all the issues that have been going on at the ranch, it’s fair to point out that one way or another, it does feel as though the Yellowstone Ranch will find itself besieged on too many fronts to fend off everyone. One way or another, things are going to change in a big way, and whoever remains standing at the end will be the toughest and most resourceful of the bunch.

It doesn’t feel as though this show has six more seasons in it.

In all honesty, it doesn’t feel like this show would last that much longer past season 5 since things are happening now that could very easily bring the ranch down and portion it out to the enemies that John Dutton has earned over the years. While he’s managed to shut down a couple of them, others are still tenacious enough to keep moving forward with the efforts to undermine and remove the entire family if they can.

Yellowstone might have another two or three seasons in it.

keep moving forward
