Robert Englund Makes Elm Street Fan’s Wish Come True

Just when you start to think that movie stars and celebrities are a bunch of stuck-up individuals with their noses in the air and a severe superiority complex it seems that we’re reminded that not all of them are that bad and there are plenty of moments when they do manage to show that they’re still capable being kind to others. Robert Englund is the kind of individual that’s been shown throughout the years to appreciate his fans given that Freddy Kruger has been a humongous horror icon for so long, but when it came to allowing a Make a Wish kid feel special he didn’t even hesitate. Jeremy Dick of MovieWeb managed to cover this story and we’re continuing it to show just how compassionate the stars can be at times, especially when it comes to their fans. Englund is after all THE guy that made Freddy such a huge part of pop culture along with creator Wes Craven and many a fan has over the years come to realize just how important this character has become.

This kind of story is incredibly uplifting since the kids that are granted this opportunity by the Make a Wish Foundation are those that are suffering from terminal to life-changing illnesses that don’t allow them to experience an active or even average life as many of their peers do, and the idea is to give them something that they’ll remember for days and hopefully years to come. This was realized not too long ago with another stellar celebrity that decided to grant a young girl her wish as Keanu Reeves decided to make the girl in question very happy by letting her sit in for the filming of a scene of his and Alex Winters’ upcoming movie Bill & Ted Face the Music. Robert Englund and Reeves are both individuals that have known for a long time that the level of success they achieve is due in part to their skill but also has to do with the fans. After all if no one is interested in watching what you’re selling then there’s no point even sticking around. Over three decades ago however Robert Englund brought to life a character that people can’t help but love despite how truly nasty and dangerous he is. The fact that Freddy Kruger became such a massive icon is a testament to just how much people love horror movies and actually want to be scared.

Henry, the young man whose day was made into a dream come true, has been dealing with a rare disease for some time and really wanted to meet his favorite horror icon after watching the Nightmare on Elm street movies. Without delay Englund made his way over and was happy to spend some time with one of his biggest fans, showing that he has what it takes to be labeled as one of the most fan-friendly individuals in Hollywood. A cynic might say that of course he would since he’s not nearly as big as he used to be, but there have been some big-name celebrities that have found a way to weasel out of this idea when their fans have expressed a desire to meet them. Many would cite scheduling conflicts and some would even state that they just didn’t have the time or the resources to make it, which is hard to believe coming from a celebrity. That’s neither here nor there however since this moment is about how Robert Englund made one fan’s dream come true in one of the coolest ways possible. How great would it be to stand next to your favorite celebrity and get a picture taken, and not only that, but wearing the character’s trademark look? That alone would make a lot of people happy beyond anything that words can describe.

The Make a Wish Foundation has been well-known for making a lot of kids and their families ecstatic as they’ve been able to share at least a short amount of happiness and a small reprieve from the illnesses that they’ve been going through. In fact as Jamie Blynn of Today has pointed out one of the biggest Make a Wish celebrities that has ever been involved is none other than the WWE’s John Cena, who has without any doubt been the most prolific contributor when it’s come to making kids happy. Some might say that these celebrities do it for publicity, others for a chance at good PR, but in truth those that manage to share their time and seem to genuinely enjoy watching a child’s face light up are those that can be said to have the biggest hearts since there’s nothing quite like making a kid’s day, especially when the rest of their days are spent wondering just how long they’re going to be sick or if they’re going to get another day.
